Italian company GRP have introduced the 2018 variants of their R2 and R3 rubber compounds for 1/5th scale moto bikes. The new R2 compound was developed to excel in low ambient temperatures and on wet tracks while the R3 rubber is best used on tracks that already took a lot of rubber and when racing in high ambient temperatures. The tyres are available in different specifications, with or without rim.

Coming from Yeah Racing are new brass and stainless steel option parts for Traxxas’ TRX-4 trail truck. First up is a front bumper and servo mount made from heavy brass material that allows to utilise a front steering servo setup. Doing so will make way for a front battery tray while also adding a good amount of weight up front as the bumper weighs in at 117g alone. The part comes in a natural finish with engraved YR logos and mounting hardware. Also new is a front or rear stainless steel fender, a part that protects the servo and parts of the front steering linkage. The item fills the gap between the axle and the bumper and due to being made from stainless steel it is both sturdy and durable. It comes with pre-bend mounting brackets and including hardware. Last but not least is a stainless steel front or rear differential protector for the TRX-4. The item is a straight install with the original screw holes and without the need for any other extra mounts.

Tamiya have announced the soon introduction of their new TB-05 Pro 1/10th 4WD touring car kit. The vehicle, that is set for a first public appearance at the forthcoming Shizuoka Hobby Show in May, is understood to be the shaft-driven version of the TA-07 Pro with similarities in terms of chassis construction and suspension while the drivetrain may adapt the TB Evo7-ish convertible transmission with selectable front or rear motor layout. Last weekend’s Ielasi Tuned Trophy, organised by former World Champion Daniele Ielasi, saw not only the running of an 1/8th IC Track class but also 1/10th 200mm racing. In the Touring class was WRC Racing’s Toni Gruber who came out on top. Toni would loose a bit of time in the opening stages of the 45-minute main final as he opted for a no-tyre-change strategy with the bigger rubber causing some issues, but once the tyres came in he was able to take over the lead and bring home the win some two laps in front of Mugen’s Dirk Wischnewski as Matteo Passetti (Serpent) completed the top 3 podium result.

Shepherd have introduced their new black colour snapback cap. The hat sports the company’s latest team wear logo as known from their shirts, hooded sweaters and soft-shell jackets, and it comes as a one-size-fits-all thanks to the snapback design. The hat sports a flat bill that can be curved as needed.

The Ielasi Tuned Trophy was held this past weekend at the Melzo track in Italy with 60 racers in attendance. The 1/8th IC track class saw Infinity’s Francesco Tironi taking the overall TQ and he would also lead most of the A-main, however with ten minutes to got a small mistake took meant he would loose the lead, allowing WRC’s Mirko Salemi to take the win from Francesco in 2nd as Massimo Aliprandi (Serpent) came in 3rd to complete the podium result.

Available now is Reds Racing’s M7 WCX Corsa Lunga 3.5cc nitro on-road engine. The new power plant is a seven special ports extreme power engine that sports a brand new cooling head which features an updated design for improved airflow to increase the cooling and ensure a low centre of gravity. The crankcase, the new head and the combustion chamber have been redesigned to improve cooling consistently and the new cooling system, besides improving cooling and reliability, also improves engine performance and fuel efficiency. The engine comes with a DLC-coated crankshaft and backplate for improved engine durability and the on-road carburettor has been redesigned to get greater idle stability, more precise tuning and improved power delivery.

The Thornhill Racing Circuit of Hutto, Texas saw the running of the Thornhill Team Cup this past weekend. In the 1/8th Expert E-Truggy it was Brian Henn with the overall TQ after the qualifiers and he would also hold onto the wins in both A-main legs to grab the overall title from Austin Bauer 2nd and Jason Hill 3rd, making it an all-Team-Associated top 3.
