Beretta crowned new 1:8 GT European Champion

Genius Racing’s Filippo Beretta is the new EFRA 1:8 GT Nitro European Champion.  Racing at the MRC Leipzig track in Germany, the Italian topped the opening three qualifiers to secure the TQ ahead of team-mate and 2022 & 2023 Champion Bernard-Alain Arnaldi.  Topping the fifth & final qualifier Daniel Schepis secured third ahead of Andrea Catanzani, the Serpent having topped seeding.  Missing the cut of directly qualifying for the 45-minute title deciding final, the Raptor of Alessio Mazzeo qualified P5 ahead of Capricorn’s Alex D’angelo.  In the final it was very much Beretta who was in control however Catanzani found a way passed his fellow countryman with 5:30 on the clock.  Crossing the finish just half a second ahead it looked like Catanzani was the new European Champion however in post race technical inspection his fuel tank failed and Beretta was declared the Champion of the 4th running of the European Championships.  It would be an all Genius Racing podium with Leonardo Valente second and Arnaldi third.  Travelling to Germany as the reigning Champion Natanaele Senesi would finish P4 having had issues in qualifying and ended up P11.  Reigning World Champion Toni Gruber qualified 9th and like Senesi had to come through the Semi finals eventually finishing P7.  In 1:8 Electric GT it was Xray’s Adam Izsay who the new Champion ahead of 2023 Champion Mazzeo with Schepis completing the podium.

Connolly wins Irish 1:8 GT National opener

The opening round of the Irish National GT Championship took place in the beautiful St Anne’s Track located in the centre of Dublin last weekend where Genius Racing’s Clive Connolly took the win.  Hosted by ORCA Ireland, in qualifying it was Connolly taking TQ honours followed by Graeme Lougheed, the top 2 automatically into the Main Final leaving the rest to battle in the Semi Finals for the remaining final positions.  The 30min Main was a close affair with battles throughout the field.  Jason Noonan and Graeme Lougheed both driving Genius cars would fight for 18 minutes until finally Graeme would retire with a technical failure allowing Bruno Barbosa driving a strong race with his OS powered Xray to move up a position.  Out in front it was multiple Irish Champion Connolly driving his Mantis Tuned powered GTC8.23 on SP Rubber that would take the victory with a trouble free run from start to finish.

Genius FR2.24 1:5 Formula 1

New from Italian large scale and 1:8 GT manufacturer Genius is their FR2.24 high performance 1:5 scale Formula 1 competition car.  The latest car is a technological evolution of the previous FR2.EVO 2021 and features a new rear upright system for quick and easy wheelbase and weight balance adjustment.  Using the included shims, both rear blocks can be moved rearward to adjust weight balance depending on track condition.  The car also gets easy access to the differential for quick setup changes or maintenance.  One of the design goals of the FR2.24 was to make the whole chassis have an extremely low centre of gravity, to make the car even easier to drive.  The rear suspension has been designed to incorporate the push-rod system with the fully adjustable stabiliser bar and a highly smooth gear transmission.  The new central chassis FR2.24 is characterised by the low profile of the radio plate and the brake master cylinders.  The new front suspension geometry is a mono-shock with a 100% functional stabiliser bar.  Genius have introduced 4 new positions of the lower rear arm allowing the roll centre to be varied to improve the handling and the car is equipped with new low profile shock absorbers at both the front and rear.  For this system they have designed a line of progressive springs and a line of linear springs.  The new battery support and receiving box have been completely redesigned: more compact, lighter and more functional.  The receiver box is designed to house MYLAPS transponder and the power connection and they have introduced a new servo saver with new Akermann geometries which allow better cornering.
