Ielasi Tuned to power Phi-Long Nguyen

Following his move to Kyosho for the 2024 season, Ielasi Tuned engines has announced it is to power up & coming US 1:8 offroad talent Phi-Long Nguyen’s nitro programme. The 12-year-old will use both Ielasi Tuned engines as well as the Dirt R EVO and Dusty R USA engines from the Italian brand for whom they say the deal will see them ‘take on new challenges and push the boundaries of racing excellence’. Commenting on the announcement Nguyen said, “Super excited to be part of the team. The tuned powerplant will definitely gives us all we need”.

Ielasi Tuned cylinder extractor

After its hugely successful World Championship winning season last year, Ielasi Tuned kicks off 2024 with the release of its new cylinder extractor. Presenting a CAD image of the product concept last May, the Italian company have spent the time since getting the product perfected with Daniele Ielasi knowing a thing or two about rebuilding engines and having extracted one or two liners in his time as an engine tuner! Since 2022 Ielasi Tuned have by technical choice started using a ‘tight fit’ cylinder for their engines which has proven to be a very important step for reliability. A side effect of this is unfortunately that not all customers find it easy to be able to carry out the classic maintenance on their engine as it was very difficult to be able to remove the cylinder from the crankcase. This is precisely the reason they came up with the idea for creating this extractor. It is made entirely of steel with a ‘spring steel collet which makes it reliable and long-lasting and is sold in its own dedicated carry case. Ielasi Tuned 2185 FT onroad pipe

Ielasi Tuned has officially presented their new EFRA2185FT pipe for onroad. This new pipe is a single piece with the Ielasi Tuned C5+ manifold and reinforced pipe to avoid breakage in the event of a crash. It will be available only with the Hard Coated treatment and also for the future they will differentiate the two versions as follows: the classic 2185kit will always be sold with the C4 manifold with the C5+ optional but there will no longer be the HD version. The only HD version as previously mentioned will be the Factory Kit 2185FT. This new one-piece pipe has been approved by IFMAR and EFRA so the kit can be used without any problem at all national and international events.

Gandin wins Miami RC Grand Prix

While the 1:12 World Championships was being decided in Cocoa, Florida, further south in the state the annual Miami RC Grand Prix was taking place where Italy’s Jonathan Gandin took the big win in 1:8 Onroad. The Ielasi Tuned team driver took his Infinity to the TQ with the fastest time and only 16-lap 4-minute run from the five rounds of qualifying at the former World Championship hosting Homestead RC Raceway. Behind it was Serpent’s Bryce Butterfield who set the second fastest time to line up P2 for the 45-minute final ahead of Infinity’s Francesco Tironi, Capricorn’s Thilo Diekmann and the Xray of Filippo Domanin. In the final, Butterfield was an early retirement going after 12-minutes, but upfront Gandin was in charge albeit being kept honest by young Domanin who set the fastest lap of the race. Completing the podium Tironi would finish 3rd ahead of the Capricorn of Florida racer Diego Morganti. In 1:10 Sedan, it was Top Qualifier DJ Apolaro who took his Infinity to the win.

Ielasi Tuned 1:8 EP combos

Collaborating with Corsatec, World Champion engine tuner Ielasi Tuned has announced it is releasing an EP combo for the 1:8 eBuggy and 1:8 GTe categories. Having worked in recent months to start 2024 with an electric offering, the 250A ESC will be the same for both categories with only the software to be used different to suit each category. For the motor they have chosen 1900Kv for the Buggy and 2650Kv for the GT category. The first batch will arrive at the end of January 2024.

Ielasi Tuned GP9R23 WC .21 Onroad engine

World and European Champion engine tuner Ielasi Tuned has announcement that their GP9R23 Spec2 .21 1:8 Onroad engine becomes the GP9R23 WC. Compared to the previous version, the WC version differs only in one detail which was successfully tested at the World Championship in Japan by their official team drivers. That part is the new engine backplate with revised internal workmanship that further optimises the performance/consumption ratio. The WC version of the GP9 was a must after the excellent results obtained at the World Championship where it achieved the TQ with Simon Kurzbuch and a double podium with Toni Gruber finish P2 and Kurzbuch P3.

Butterfield joins Ielasi Tuned

On what has been a productive day for Ielasi Tuned engines at the 1:8 World Championship, drivers Simon Kurzbuch and Toni Gruber taking a 1-2 in seeding, the Italian company has announced top US racer Bryce Butterfield has joined the team. Commenting on the announcement from Infinity International RC Speedway in Japan, factory Serpent driver Butterfield said, ‘I would like to thank Daniele and Sabrina for the opportunity to run their World Championship winning engines! Looking forward to running these engines into the future! Coming to a track near you.’

‘Every race we start from zero’ – Gruber

Two weeks ago Toni Gruber took the biggest prize of his racing career yet. Realising the ultimate dream, he clinched his first World Championship title with a very convincing victory at the 1:8 GT World Championship in Sydney, Australia. The victory didn’t really come as too much of a surprise however as the German is in the form of his life this season. However, despite claiming the 1:10 Nitro Onroad European Championship for a second time during the Summer, following that up a month later by becoming Top Qualifier at the 1:8 Euros where he finished on the podium, and then rounding out the European season with his first ENS title win, the sport’s newest World Champion goes into the 1:8 Onroad World Championship in Japan with the mindset ‘every race we start from zero’.
