Kyosho Scorpion re-release 2WD buggy – Details

Kyosho Scorpion re-release 2WD buggy – Details

Kyosho America have released first details of the forthcoming Scorpion re-release vintage 2WD buggy. The long awaited release of the Scorpion, which was the cornerstone of the Kyosho off-road program during the late 70s and early 80s, is designed by the same designer as the original Scorpion. This new version is very faithful to many of the details that make it virtually identical to the original car, but there are some changes to increase the durability and performance. The shocks are higher quality with much smoother operation, and the spring pre-load collars will not snap like the old ones and the transmission is upgraded with 48-pitch gears and nearly an all-metal construction except for the compound counter gear. A sealed gear differential is driven via a modern slipper clutch to smooth out power delivery. It is understood that the kit will become available by June.

Exotek RB6 direct spur mount & alloy wing buttons

Exotek RB6 direct spur mount & alloy wing buttons

Exotek have new optional parts available in the form of a direct spur mount for the Kyosho RB6 as well as alloy wing buttons for a range of 1/10th off-road buggies. Starting with the direct spur mount, the slipper eliminator hub fits all RB6 series buggies and truck including the RT6 and SC6 and it is best used in stock class and oval racing where a slipper is not necessarily needed. The lower weight makes for a cooler running motor and the design of the hub let drivers use all Kimbrough-standard spur gears. Due to the simple mounting swapping the hub for the slipper is an easy task when conditions call for it.

Avid customisable Triad slipper clutch set

Avid customisable Triad slipper clutch set

Avid now offers a customisable Triad slipper clutch set. Suitable for most of today’s Team Associated vehicles such as the B5 and B4 series as well as the B44, TLR’s 22 2WD series, Kyosho’s RB6 and RB5 as well as Team Durango’s 210 series, the clutch set now offers selectable slipper pad and main gear combinations. Users can choose between 3 white, 3 red or 2 white and 2 red pads as well as 2 main gears of 66T to 87T in size. While the pads have a direct influence on the behaviour of the clutch at different track conditions the main gear size is affected by the class you run as smaller gears are typically used in stock racing while larger gears are needed when running modified motors. Beside the pad and gear selection the Triad clutch set is otherwise unchanged from the standard item.
