Renaud Savoya signs with TLR

Horizon Hobby France have announced the signing of French frontrunner Renaud Savoya to their team. The multi-time European Champion was released by his former chassis sponsors HPI/HB at the beginning of January and he now found a new home at Horizon Hobby and TLR. Jerome Chambon of Horizon Hobby France has the following to say about the deal:

Horizon Hobby and Team Losi Racing are pleased to welcome Reno Savoya to the Horizon Hobby France team. Reno will proudly sport our colours, not the mention the ones of our friends of RC Concept this season and beyond. Jerome Sartel and myself will do anything to support Reno as good as possible as we do it with all drivers in our team. We wish Reno all the best for his new adventure and the success he deserves. HPI Racing Nuremberg Toy Fair news

During the forthcoming Nuremberg International Toy Fair HPI Racing will have a bunch of new kits on show. The new-for-2016 range include an RS3 Sport 3 based Ford Mustang Hoonicorn, a Vaughn Gittin Jr. Signature Edition Savage XS Flux, new Baja 5B based off-road buggies as well as several updated Savage 1/8th scale monster trucks beside others. More detailed information on the new kits become available very soon.

Ali Kaya joins Serpent Turkey

Serpent have announced the addition of Ali Kaya to their growing 1/10th GP on-road racing team. Ali will be racing at all major national 1/10th events held at the well-known Izmir and Bursa circuits and he will also join several practice days at the Serpent Turkey home circuit in Maltepe, Istanbul along with selected track days being held at the EFMOD circuit Izmir.

JQRacing THECar White Edition LV 1/8th nitro buggy kit

JQRacing have introduced the latest incarnation of their THECar 1/8th nitro off-road buggy, the White Edition LV kit. Following a steep learning curve in designing and selling a competition off-road buggy the “2016” White Edition LV marks the pinnacle of the THECar development so far. After the very complex previous White Edition kit the LV variant will feature less setup options to make sure even the average racer always ends up with an easy to drive yet fast car. Thus the LV features new front and rear shock towers with higher shock and link holes, redesigned 15 degree C-hubs with only one arm location, and new rear hubs with higher and less camber link holes. The hubs also feature bearing inserts for improved bearing fit. Also included are 2-piece steering knuckles, 7×1.2 and 7×1.3 shock pistons, as well as new +2 “C” and “D” plates with inserts for better handling as well as the longer 90.5mm front driveshafts. The kit hits the stores World-wide this week and more detailed information about the updated and how they affect handling will become available in the coming days.

Hobbywing XR10 Pro brushless speed controller

Coming soon is Hobbywing’s all-new XR10 Pro brushless speed controller for 1/10th scale applications. Developed in co-operation with Hobbywing North America the ESC was on show during last weekend’s Reedy Race of Champions and it was designed with both modified and stock racing in mind. It features a redesigned all-alloy can, a new processor and it is meant to be better in all aspects as it offers an even wider adjustment range, better and more adjustable brakes, and improved throttle response for both modified and stock racing. New to the XR10 Pro are also special modified racing throttle profiles. The XR10 Pro will become available this Spring.

MIP Bi-metal differential outdrives

Seen at last weekend’s Reedy Race of Champions for the first time are MIP’s new Bi-metal differential outdrives. They consist of a two-piece design, revolving around a 7075 hard anodised aluminium disk that is ambidextrous to both the female and male steel outdrives that couple to the aluminium disks. These new bi-metal outdrives will work with MIP’s Roller Pucks along with the standard orange plastic puck. The new diff components will be available soon for both current Team Associated and TLR vehicles and they are perfect for modified racers looking for a bit more punch out of the corners but also stock short course and stadium truck can achieve a lighter drivetrain while getting the optimum wear characteristics that the roller pucks offer over the plastic pucks.

Team Associated B5MCE conversion kit

Available now from Team Associated is the limited edition B5M Champions Edition conversion for the standard B5M kit. Included are all parts to create the full-option CE buggy as are the gearbox, gear cover, motor plate, slipper hub and slipper pad, blue shielded bearings, flat front arms, front shock tower, rear ball stud mount, aluminium front axles, six blue titanium turnbuckles, 7mm offset clamping wheel hex with screws and pins, and heavy duty CVA axles. Also included are a JConcepts front wing, 30W/350cSt silicone shock fluid, and a set of FOX shock bodies with Kashima coat. The kit is rounded out by a fully illustrated instruction supplement and it is only available through rc10.com.

Yokomo YZ-4 optional long suspension arms

Yokomo have released new option parts for the YZ-4 4WD buggy in the form of long front and rear suspension arms. The flat-type “F1” graphite front and “L5” rear arms are 1mm longer than the standard parts and they are designed for the use on high-bite surfaces such as carpet and astroturf. In addition to the rear arms Yokomo also offers special aluminium rear suspension mounts to bring the car to the proper overall width.
