Tamiya VW Golf Mk.1 Group 2 rerelease

Tamiya have issued a re-release of the 2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk.1 Racing Group 2 M-chassis kit. Based off of the front-driven M-05 chassis the car features a monocoque frame chassis, 3-bevel gear differential, front and rear friction dampers and last but not least a 1970’s VW Golf polycarbonate bodyshell as well as grippy slick tyres with foam inserts. Back in 2013 the Golf was already some sort of a re-release although the original Tamiya Golf Racing Group 2 was a pan car and the two basically only shared the wide fender bodyshell.

The parts make for a total car width of 200mm, a specification that is used in many Asian racing series. Aside from the front suspension the remainder of the car is left unchanged from the rubber-spec SF2. Included with the SF2.W comes a genuine Protoform F1-15 bodyshell, Serpent’s moulded rear diffusor and a set of ETS-legal front and rear wings. The inclusion of the body and rear diffusor is also a running change to the standard SF2 kits from now on, Serpent announced.
