Wilck extends Speed Passion deal through 2015

Viktor Wilck Speed Passion'd till 2015

Speed Passion have announced that Reedy Race of Champions winner Viktor Wilck will stay with Speed Passion through 2015. The Swede who has used the company’s speed controllers since 2008 will now also use their new range of V4 motors in his Tamiya cars having used Thunder Power for the last three years. This is what Viktor had to say about the new deal:

First of all, I must thank Thunderpower and especially Jim Skinner for the great support over the last 3 years.  We had an amazing time winning many races, with the highlight of being able to win the Reedy Race of Champions 2012. However, it is time for a change. Having been supported by Speed Passion, using their ESC’s since 2008, the natural choice is to go all the way and use the full product line including Speed Passion motors. Speed Passion has always produced high quality products. Since my first sponsorship with Speed Passion’s founder Wilson, I have built a very good relationship with Speed Passion and am looking forward to working together developing the new V4 motor line. Speed Passion will be focusing all their resources in giving me the best possible power package for the 2014 ISTC World Championship in Florida.

Tekno NT48 1/8 nitro truggy kit

Tekno NT48 1/8 nitro truggy kit

Tekno RC have released first images and information on the forthcoming NT48 competition nitro truggy kit. Building on the EB48 and SCT410 platform Tekno’s first nitro truck is designed with performance and durability in mind and thus features newly designed “solid” lower A-arms, sturdy 6mm front and 5mm rear shock towers as well as extra long 122mm and 137mm big bore shock absorbers to make full use of the up and down travel the suspension design allows. The truck is based on a 4mm 7075 hard-anodised aluminium chassis that allows for a front or rear biased engine position to alter weight distribution and the drivetrain is equipped with straight-cut hardened steel gears, lightened outdrives and captured CV driveshafts all-round. The stopping duties are taken care of by steel brake discs and semi-metallic brake pads while the kit comes with an adjustable 4-shoe clutch system. Other features include lightened pivot balls, steering posts and wheel hubs, an easily adjustable wing mount system, the kit offers a wide parts compatibility with the other Tekno RC vehicles and it comes with a newly designed body that snuggly fits around the chassis and the side pods. The NT48 will become available early 2014.

McPappy Racing progressive VCS springs

McPappy Racing progressive VCS springs

McPappy Racing release the new VCS progressive spring kit. The “variable pitch” design has 3 coils on one end which are designed to coil bind under 1/4″ of compression travel. This allows the springs to be soft at first and rapidly increase in stiffness. Side shocks benefit by allowing the pod to be smooth and soft near the neutral resting position yet get progressively stiffer as the chassis rolls. Likewise, if a small VCS shock is used for the centre shock, the soft action handles the bumps nicely while getting stiff right before the chassis bottoms out. The springs are available with traditional or precision ground flat ends with the latter applying pressure slightly straighter and helping to keep it from rubbing on the shock body. The kit included 8 pairs of springs from 5 lbs through 12 lbs in 1 pound increments.

JConcepts Silencer Mugen MBX-7 Eco

JConcepts Silencer Mugen MBX-7 Eco-1

New from JConcepts comes the silencer body shell for the Mugen MBX-7 Eco buggy. Designed for the use on high-speed tracks it features a narrowed, Finnisher stance cockpit that allows for smoother high-speed transition and increased flow in and out of the body for electrical air-flow. A deep recess behind the cab features dual channeling out the rear providing air escape along with rear-end stability. The side-pods have a clipped rear-end, narrowing the rear by angling just in front of the rear tyres. The extended runner features on the rear-end of the body enhance the force placed on the rear pods during high-speed acceleration. The main pods are heavily chamfered with a more heat-shrink design over the speed control and motor areas. The end result has the body looking extremely low-profile with heavy JConcepts edginess and appeal and it is capped off with a cockpit  “shark fin” for more high-speed tracking stability and increased roof stiffness.
