Capricorn Quantum 1:8 Onroad Chassis

After unveiling the first CAD images last October, Capricorn officially presents the new Quantum 1:8 Onroad, a completely new project that marks the beginning of a new era for the company. The Quantum is the result of an extensive process of design, development, and technical validation. Over the past four months, the car has undergone an intensive testing program in prototype configuration, allowing all key technical solutions to be fully validated. Today, the car is complete in every aspect. Thanks to Capricorn’s production facility in Cologno Monzese, component manufacturing and track testing take place in extremely short timeframes, allowing Patrizio Rossi and his team to immediately refine every detail and optimize each technical solution. The development process was focused not only on creating a new model, but also on defining a base setup that is truly usable by all drivers, from professional racers to hobbyists. Development will continue intensively over the coming weeks, with the goal of starting the first deliveries by the end of January, bringing to the track a technically advanced, reliable, and high-performance project, in true Capricorn style.

Takashima D-13 EP Touring Car Spring Collection Box V2

Takashima D-13 has updated their EP Touring Car Spring Collection Box releasing the V2 version. Compared to the pervious version, the capacity is double so it can now hold 32 EP Touring springs. Each holder is 18mm in height and 17.5mm in diameter with an embedded spring stiffness label included inside the box. The new design features snap-clips to makes the box more durable.

Deja vu! Catanzani is Top Qualifier in Chile again

It was a case of Deja Vu at the IFMAR 1:8 Onroad World Championship in Chile today as Serpent’s Andrea Cantanzani claimed his second overall Worlds TQ of 2025 in the sixth & final round of qualifying, the super quick Italian having pulled off the same feat 11 weeks ago to the day when he was Top Qualifier at the 1:8 GT Worlds. With Catanzani equalling Maxine Ripoll with a second TQ run of the event in Q5, this set the stage for a thrilling duel between the two young drivers. The highly anticipate battle however wouldn’t go the full distance. Steeling time from his rivals with his super quick fuel stops to TQ Rounds 3 & 4, unfortunately this time round Ripoll would have issues in pit lane, his engine flaming out during refuelling. This ended what has been a super impressive and entertaining to follow challenge from the 19-year-old for the top spot on grid. With Ripoll out, Catanzani would TQ the round ahead of Capricorn’s Toni Gruber and Mugen Seiki’s Shoki Takahata to secure the overall TQ, the first in a long time for 1:8 Onroad pioneering manufacturer Serpent. For Gruber and Takahata the result will see the go directly to the final as Top 4 qualifiers. One of the favourites ahead of championship, Simon Kurzbuch would end quali with a P4 which wouldn’t be enough and now the 2015 World Champion has a Semi final between him and lining up to try and claim a second World title.

SMJ Stealth Line Lefty Springs RS8.4 Short 22mm

Japanese brand SMJ’s long-awaited RS series has been added to the lineup of the standard SMJ Stealth Line Lefty Springs for 1:8 Nitro Onroad shock absorbers. The smooth initial roll movement makes steering control easier, achieving a stable cornering line and consistent lap times. The has an overall length of 22 mm and a wire diameter of 1.8 mm.

T-Works MP11 Hard Coated Alu Servo Saver Arm

One of the companies making our overage of this week’s IFMAR 1:8 Onroad World Championship possible, aftermarket parts manufacturer T-Works has released this 7075-T6 Hard Coated Aluminium Servo Saver Arm for the Kyosho MP11 1:8 Buggy. Machined from premium 7075-T6 alloy and finished with a black hard coated treatment, it delivers significantly enhanced hardness and wear resistance. Fully compatible with the original kit part for hassle-free installation, it features three types of threaded adjustment shims (B/C/D), which can meet the adjustment needs of different installation distances and have a wider range of applicable scenarios. The Type B threaded adjustment shim supports dual-position distance adjustment of 22.5mm and 21.5mm. The Type C threaded adjustment shim has a fixed adjustment distance of 22mm, suitable for precise matching requirements. The Type D threaded adjustment shim: Supports dual-position distance adjustment of 21mm and 23mm. Customers may also purchase Gasket A and Gasket E separately as needed. Gasket A (thread-adjustable) supports dual-position distance adjustment of 20.5mm and 23.5mm while Gasket E (thread-adjustable) supports dual-position distance adjustment of 20mm and 24mm.

Another TQ run as Ripoll take Q4 just ahead of Catanzani

Xray’s Maxime Ripoll has become the first driver to repeat a TQ run at the IFMAR 1:8 Onroad World Championship, the French talent opening Day 2 of qualifying in Chile with the fastest time for the fourth round ahead of Andrea Catanzani and Toni Gruber, the trio the only drivers who can now take the overall TQ honours. A slightly warmer morning that yesterday in Santiago, Ripol would break 23-laps for the first time over the 7-minutes bettering Catanzani’s Q1 time by over a second, something that could prove key in deciding the Top Qualifier with the second two runs of the day normally proving slower. With Ripoll’s advantage over Catazani’s Serpent 0.233 of a second, while he set the fastest lap for the round, it is his father’s performance in the pit lane that is the big talking point among his rivals, Team Ripoll making up over a second on refuelling. Behind Gruber’s Capricorn, it was the two factory Mugen Seiki’s of Simon Kurzbuch and Shoki Takahata who completed the Top 5. The two former World Champions said afterwards they just lacked pace this round, Kurzbuch reacting with, ‘Only 5th, I don’t know how to find the speed’, the Swiss driver adding they are going to have to try something different for Q5.

GRP expands Ai-TECH Offroad range with ‘Micro’ pattern

Having brought its brand new Ai-TECH 1:8 Buggy tyre range to market earlier this year, Italian tyre producer GRP has expanded the range with the introduction of a fifth pattern, the ‘Micro’. With the results for the new line very impressive, after many races and testing GRP saw they needed to add a new design to complete the line with a tyre for low/middle grip condition. Completely designed by Maurizio Gandini, who together with his wife Susan and daughter Sara have owned MRP since 2017, they worked on developing this new pattern and preparing the mould in very short time and now after many tests they present the new Micro. The big difference of the Micro compared to other similar products on market is the quality of the mould, the mould produced with special chromed steel, CNC machined and finished with new laser technology. The pins of the Micro tyre are very sharp, this guaranteeing maximum grip and long life. Feedback for the Ai-TECH range being their string performance, long life and very high quality for all components like the wheel, insert and tyre.
