Serpent X20 Medius 4WD electric touring car

Following a couple of teaser images on social media, Serpent have fully unveiled their all-new X20 Medius 4WD electric touring car kit. The chassis is based on the popular Medius mid-motor design, using a light weight and strong 1-piece motor mount concept, without any interference between the front and rear chassis flex while still allowing centre flex adjustability. The advantage for this style of design is to allow maximum flex capabilities without impacting the drivetrain, meaning smoother power delivery, more consistency and less chance of stripping spurs. Using the last four years of development, the X20 keeps the successful 4X proven pivot ball style suspension setup allowing for easy and fast adjustments to camber, toe, track width etc. A new 2-point steering crank system has been implemented for more Ackermann adjustment, coupled with the 4X geometry.

Power HD Storm-S15 reverse receiver wire servo

Power HD have introduced their all-new Storm-S15 reverse receiver wire low-profile HV brushless servo. With the receiver wire leaving the case on the opposite side of the outdrive gear – and thus on the inside of the chassis in most cases – wiring can be carried out much neater compared to standard servos that always have the wire on the “outside” of the chassis. Therefore the servo is the ideal choice especially for 1/10th touring cars, as it not only make for more tidy wiring but also prevents the wire from being exposed in the case of a crash. Other features include a 2-tone case anodising on the aluminium case with silver, golden or red details being available, and high-torque aluminium and steel gears make for exceptional durability.

RPM Super Rock Rey front spindle set

Coming from RPM and made for the Losi Super Rock Rey truck is a reinforced front spindle set. The parts have reinforced steering arm ribs that triangulate further than stock, strengthening the steering arm to unbreakable levels. RPM also increased the amount of support material surrounding the axle bearings to improve overall strength and crash survivability. To further the aesthetic appeal, RPM redesigned the brake calliper mounts for a cleaner, more finished look and made them lighter. In addition the stock, heavyweight 4mm king pin retaining screws were replaced with lightweight 3mm versions. This simple screw size change reduces the overall unsprung weight of the spindles by four grams without compromising strength. The spindles utilise the stock suspension geometry and are moulded from engineering grade nylons for durability.

Avid clutch bearing line

Coming from Avid is their new line of clutch bearings. Clutch temperatures easily reach temperatures three times more than that of a wheel bearing and so they are specifically designed for use in clutches to withstand the high heat and loads. Balls are 20 percent larger than Avid’s standard bearing line and when combined with the deeper grooves in the races, racers get a ton more surface area to distribute the load. Grooves are made from 52100 and polished to a higher level of smoothness to keep friction down when at higher loads. Cages are made from nylon instead of steel so that during high heat expansion situations there is no chance of metal to metal rubbing which results in less drag, and better strength. The bragging are available as 5x10x4mm, 5x11x4mm and 5x13x4mm metal-shielded variants.
