Sweep Micro Contacts tires

Sweep have introduced their lucky seventh 8th scale off-road tire called, Micro Contacts. This tire was designed to be a bulletproof micro pin style tire delivering a rocket round run in qualifying and still able to last the whole A-main. Featuring a very stable micro pin pattern to sweep the ground with today’s hottest 21 engines. As the name suggests, all of their test drivers commented on how they feel like their car has micro suction cups sticking to the ground. The gluing bead and sidewalls have been redesigned to deliver a precise steering feel, which has never been experienced in the past. Four different compounds are available to suit a large variety of track conditions. The softest compound silver, blue, red and then the hardest compound white. These tires are designed specifically for their own grooved inserts or Cloud 9 closed cell foam inserts.

Jilles Groskamp joins Sweep Racing

Sweep Racing have announce that double Euro Touring Series Champion Jilles Groskamp has joined their team. The Tamiya TRF and Team Orion factory driver had this to say about the deal:

After some tests with the Sweep tyres I’m very excited to join the Sweep racing team. As a professional driver I spend many days testing new parts on the car and new electronics and good tyres are needed for this. It allow me to test my Orion powered Tamiya 417 in a perfect way due the fast and consistent tyres of Sweep racing.

Sweep updated EXP45 GT tires

With the growing popularity of the electric 1/8 GT class, it was obvious some changes were needed in the tires. Because of the extraordinary torque an electric motor creates, there is a lot of stress on the tires. The new improved Sweep EXP45 GT tires have been redesigned to provide more forward traction, come up to race temperature quicker and maintain optimum operating temperature. This results in greater acceleration out of the corner, fewer warm up laps and more consistent performance throughout the run.

Sweep Racing Cloud9 closed cell Insert

After extensive testing with molded grooved foam inserts, Sweep Racing have focused their efforts on the development of new closed cell foam inserts. Closed cell foam inserts have many performance benefits over conventional designs, such as increased durability, waterproof, reduced tire deformation during cornering and lighter in weight. These characteristics make their Cloud 9 buggy insert a major improvement over their previous designs. Sweep drivers have reported increased cornering capability and improved acceleration. The Cloud 9 inserts are scheduled to arrive at dealers very soon.

Sweep Racing OG Spec tire

Bringing together years of experience in rubber compound technology along with looking for a perfect tire shape, Sweep Racing have designed their all new OG Spec tire. This tire provides everything the modern touring car racer needs, consistent traction throughout the entire length of a race along with excellent tire life. Based on the optimum overall diameter of 64.8mm, the carcass has been re-designed to fit Sweep’s inserts perfectly, providing more consistent performance, while the new improved sidewall design is developed to create better cornering traction and wear characteristics. The OG Spec tire has been selected as the official tire for the 2011 Xray Challenge Series and initial impressions were very positive, performing brilliantly at the 1st round of the series at West Coast RC Raceway.

Sweep Racing closed cell truggy inserts

Sweep Racing have released these closed cell truggy inserts. Based on the original industry standard closed cell foam insert, but the new grooved insert is designed to take advantage of the radial ribs inside the carcass of the Exagon tires. Perfectly balanced, they are 100% water safe, reusable, extremely durable and light weight at only 36 grams.

Sweep Racing Closed Cell 1:8 truggy inserts

Sweep Racing have released their new Closed Cell 1:8 truggy inserts. Based on the original industry standard closed cell foam insert, the new grooved insert is designed to take advantage of the radial ribs inside the carcass of the Exagon tires to ensure no air gaps and perfect balance. The inserts are now available with their line of truggy tires as well as in their line of pre glued truggy tires/wheels.
