Kaerup doubles to hold overnight TQ at eBuggy Worlds

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup produced another TQ run at the eBuggy World Championship to hold the overnight TQ in Portugal after backing up his TQ from Round 2 with another fastest time of the event in Q3.  The Danish teenager topped the final round of Day 1 of qualifying at the Barcelos track from Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski, his advantage over the Pole 1.5-seconds.  On a potential TQ run in the previous round until a late driver error, Sworkz’ Juan Carlos Canas posted his first Top 3 of qualifying just 0.034 shy of Orlowski.  The big surprise of Q3 was Ryan Cavalieri, the multiple 1:10 Offroad World Champion steering his Mayako right into the mix with the 4th fastest time.  Behind the American, Noha Ben Mohamed showed his run to the fifth fastest time in Q2 wasn’t a one off as he again recorded a P5 with Davide Ongaro completing the Top 6, the Italian again suffering a mistake over the 5-minutes.  Taking the opening qualifier, David Ronnefalk ended the day with a 10th after a mistake on the final run to the loop.  Despite this, the Swede sits P2 in the overnight qualification ranking thanks to his third fastest time in Q2.  For his Xray team-mate Dakotah Phend it was a tough day, the American having started out the day with a 6th in Q1 but ending up 20th for Q2 after a mistake and then suffering a DNS in the day’s final round due to a mechanical.

Kaerup takes Q2 in Portugal

Team Associated’s Marcus Kaerup has taken the second qualifier at the 1:8 eBuggy World Championship, the Dane redeeming himself following a disappointing first effort to top the times from Top Seed Elliott Boots.  Ending up with a 41 for Q1, Kaerup would take Q2 in a new fastest time bettering David Ronnefalk’s opening TQ time by over 1-second.  Ronnefalk would back up his TQ run with a P3 for the round with Boots just getting the better of him by 0.049 of a second after the British driver produced a better final lap.  Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski posted the 4th fastest time ahead of young French talent Noha Ben Mohamed who steered his Sparko into the Top 5.   It was a frustrating run for a number of leading title contenders.  Davide Ongaro lost almost 3-seconds with a mistake on lap 7 of 9 but still salvaged a 6th such was his pace, Juan Carlos Canas had a final lap mistake that cost him 4-seconds, and Dakotah Phend lost any chance of a strong Q2 with a mistake on his second lap.

Ending Day 1 of practice fourth fastest, in this morning’s two final free practice runs Kaerup bettered that time ending up 1-second faster with his FP7 time. Behind it was Schumacher’s Daniel Kobbevik who set the second fastest time just ahead of another of the morning’s big improvers Pekko Iivonen for an all Scandinavian Top 3. Setting the pace yesterday, Dakotah Phend would not improve on his FP4 time but the Xray driver still ends free practice in P4 with the that time ahead of Polish duo Bartek Zalewski and Michal Orlowski.

Team Associated RC10 Stealth ATC Transmission Kit

After all of their vintage RC10 kit releases, Team Associated has now re-released its Stealth A.T.C. (Associated Torque Control) Transmission.  A revolutionary advancement in RC racing, it was developed by Cliff Lett to give the new RC10 “Team Car” a competitive edge.  Released in 1990, the Stealth featured a compact, low-friction, and fully enclosed 3-gear design that significantly improved efficiency and durability over the original 6-gear transmission.  Its debut took place at the 1990 ROAR Off-Road Nationals held at Hobby Haven Raceway in Des Moines, Iowa. where the transmission proved its worth as Team Associated drivers dominated the field.  Lett’s engineering focused on optimising power transfer, reducing rotating mass, and simplifying maintenance – all of which contributed to the Team Car’s immediate success. The Stealth quickly became the gold standard in competitive off-road RC, influencing future transmission designs across the industry and solidifying Associated’s dominance throughout the early ‘90s. Its legacy continues as a defining innovation in RC racing history.  The Stealth ATC Transmission kit includes everything you need to convert, replace, or refresh the transmission of your favourite RC10 buggy is included in this Stealth Transmission kit.  In addition to the Stealth gearbox you get the updated V2 Octalock slipper system, plastic transmission brace, case-to-motor plate seal, 75-tooth 48-pitch Octalock spur gear, molded gear cover, steel ball bearings, and ball differential.

Hall doubles at BRCA Nationals Round 5

Team Associated’s Tommy Hall became first double winner of the 2025 BRCA British 1:10 Offroad Nationals as he took his 3rd 2WD and 2nd 4WD win of the season at the TORCH hosted 5th round of the championships.  In 2WD it was a close battle for the TQ between defending British Champion Hall and his senior team Neil Cragg who claimed two TQ runs each from the four rounds.  With the fastest time coming in Q1 from Hall he would take the Top Qualifier honours with Ben Smith and Jamie Hall taking 3rd & 4th with the tiebreaker also need to separate the pair.  In Saturdays 2WD finals convert his TQ into wins in A1 & 2 to lock in the overall win and extend his lead in the championship standings over Cragg.  Winning A3 ahead of Smith,  Cragg took second overall with Smith’s Schumacher completing the podium.  In 4WD, again it was Hall who took the TQ this time from championship leader Smith and Cragg.  Winning A1 & 2, the former EFRA European Champion pulled off the perfect weekend with Smith getting P2 as they pair are now separated by 4-points with one round remaining.  Luke Holdsworth came through from qualifying 6th to round out the Top 3.

Team Associated RC28R Team Kit

With 1:28 specialist manufacturers like Reflex Racing and RC Atomic having just released their latest competition spec kits, industry giant Team Associated has just announced its entry into the pancar category with the RC28R Team Kit.  The RC28 features a fixed-arm front suspension with included optional molded upper arms for tuning caster and camber.  The torsion side links (soft, medium, and hard included) replace the need for a side spring making setup easy while adding performance in areas a conventional spring does not.  The battery holder design ensures quick access without disturbing the centre shock.  Based on a steel chassis plate, this provides a low center of gravity while the insert adjustable roll centre enables chassis roll adjustment based on the grip level. The pitch, roll and droop can further be tuned/Adjusted with the threaded aluminium centre shock, spring collars and side damper tubes. The two-piece rear pod allows quick axle height adjustment utilising Factory Team carbon fibre shims.  You can fine-tune Ackermann on the fly with the adjustable servo mount.

Bernadzik reigns as rain halts Asian Buggy Championships Australia

Team Associated’s Alex Bernadzik converted TQ honours at the Australian round of the Cayote backed Asian Buggy Championships into the win but unfortunately Mother Nature put an early halt to what was building into an epic battle in Brisbane.  Having TQ’d all three hostings of the Asian Buggy Championships at the Pine Hill Dirt Racing track, Bernadzik led away the race’s most stacked international field yet for what was original scheduled to be a 1-hour final.  While the intimidating dark clouds started to gather in the distance, racing got underway in the sunshine and the early pace was hot but all the time the darkening skies were moving in.  Unfortunately for Kouki Kato and Tyler Jones, the latter got into the eBuggy winner Kato on the opening lap sending the Infinity and Sparko drivers dropping to the back of the field.  The American did show great sportsmanship in waiting after the contact with the talented Japanese driver.  Up front it was Bernadzik who led from Pekko Iivonen, but 6-laps in, the home favourite made a mistake allowing the fourth place starting Finn to take over at the front.  From there he looked very strong as he led the field into the first round of pit stops just after the 7-minute mark.  While touching the wall on the tight pit lane entry, once the first & only stops were completed, it was still Iivonen who was in charge.  Coming up on 10-minutes however a mistake would hand the lead back to Bernadzik with Kato, who briefly took over the lead during the fuel stops and was now firmly back in the game, also going through for second.  Locked into their intense battle, Jones having worked his way up to fifth behind 2024 winner Caleb Noble, little did the drivers know they had less than 3-minute left to play things out.  A track that drew huge compliments from drivers for both it surface and size, unfortunately one of the downsides of its oiled dirt surface is that oil & water don’t mix!  As soon as the lightest of drops started falling the effect on the cars was immediate forcing Race Director Scotty Ernst to call the race just shy of 13-minutes – the heavens opening up shortly after.  While the disappointment of having their entertainment cut short clear on everyone’s face, including Bernadzik, a result is a result and Bernadzik goes down as the third different winner of the 2025 Asian Buggy Championships season.  Less than a second back Kouki had to settle for second while Iivonen completed the Round 3 podium.
