Joe Bornhorst trifecta at Horizon RC Fest

The Horizon RC Fest was held this last weekend in Monticello, Illinois this past weekend with he event caring about everything radio controlled including planes, drones and cars. As part of the festivities Horizon Hobby held their TLR Cup for 1/8th scale off-road classes and it was Tekno RC’s Joe Bornhorst who would sweep the Pro Buggy, Truggy and E-Buggy classes. Tekno EB410 front & rear swaybar sets

Tekno RC have announced two new swaybar sets for the EB410 1/10th scale 4WD buggy. They make it easier to fine-tune the setup depending on the traction level, from loamy low traction surfaces to high grip carpet. The front set includes wires thicker than those found in TKR6623 and are best used on higher grip surfaces such as carpet or blue grooved clay. They provide a great tuning option to reduce steering sensitivity and prevent traction rolling on high bite surfaces. Included are five 1.5mm to 1.9mm wires. The rear set includes thinner-than-stock swaybars, making them a useful option for low grip surfaces. They will help generate additional rear traction and can also aid in stabilising the rear suspension on very bumpy surfaces. Included are five 1.0mm to 1.4mm wires.

Tekno introduce new EB410 optionals

Coming from Tekno for their EB410 1/10th scale 4WD buggy are new universal driveshafts as well as an updated rear shock tower. Starting with the driveshafts, the assemblies are CNC machined from high-quality steel alloy and black oxidised for wear resistance. Extreme working angles are no problem and they are also lightweight as the excess material has been removed without compromising performance or strength. Universal driveshafts excel in rough conditions and can generate additional side bite by providing additional roll in the corners. The suspension is allowed to work more efficiently when compared to the additional mechanical binding in CVAs. This allows the vehicle to absorb bumps better with a reduced risk of “catching a rut” and flipping the car while cornering. For smoother tracks, CVA’s will produce more forward traction and support, but universals are also well suited with slight suspension setup changes such as springs and oil. The basic design of a universal driveshaft means virtually no maintenance is required and dirt and dust won’t foul the operation of the joint. These are ready to drop into the EB410 with the use of additional 8x14x4mm bearings.

JConcepts NT48.3 Finnisher body shell

Coming from JConcepts and made for the Tekno NT48.3 truggy is the new Finnisher body shell. The slight cab forward, raked windshield and aggressive stance highlight a performance oriented core while wide front hood scoop allows plenty of clearance for the unique Tekno NT48.3 shock geometry. The body incorporates a large centre fin which begins on the roof line and finishes just past the half-way point on the bed. Extended front chin spoiler, headlight and grill protect the front-end from unwanted up-drafts during flight while the supplied decals stand-out like an 18 wheeler. The body comes moulded from high-quality polycarbonate, including window masks and a decal sheet and it also fits and works with the ET48.3 electric truck.

RC-Project NB/EB48 lower shock screws & uni balls

Italian company RC-Project have introduced new lower shock screws and uni balls for the Tekno NB48 and EB48 series of off-road kits. Starting with the lower shock mounting screws, they are machined from 7075-T6 Ergal material and they feature an optimised overall diameter to ensure a better connection between the pin, arm and lower shock eyelet ball. In addition the thread diameter has been enlarged by 0.05mm to ensure the screws are sitting tight even in used suspension arms. The hard-coated screws are supplied in colour-coded and marked left and right hand thread variants to ensure they will not come loose accidentally during use.
