The action packed Northwest Indoor Series continued its 2nd round in Albany, Oregon at Northwest Hobbies and Raceway. This four race series attracts the region’s best to three different tracks between Oregon and Washington with the ultimate goal to find out who is the fastest in each respective class. There are no drops and with each race being a month apart, planning and scheduling is a must.

The first round of the Norwegian Banken Cup was held at Kvinesdal, Norway on a large indoor carpet track. The Modified class attracted the biggest turnout of drivers and in the first qualifying round it was current Nordic Champion and Schumacher driver Nikolai Haaheim who had a disastrous start after stripping the spur gear of his car. Oyvind would start the qualifier on top of the field, but several rolls sent him down the pack. Yokomo driver Oskar Fjeld made the best out of the situation and after a slow start he won the first round in front of youngster Tobias Sanden and Rune Svestol.

It is all change for this weekend’s (Jan 30 – Feb 1) second round of the Euro Offroad Series as the championship returns to Berlin for a second year. Following a successful first visit to the German capital city last year, the first change is the venue with the race moving to a larger, more modern, building to better cater for the 200 plus entries. Having partnered up with Schumacher as official tyre supplier for Season #4, which got underway in Poland last October, another change for Round 2 is the switch over to pre-glued handout tyres for everyone. The third change comes in the form of the track action after the 2015 brought about one of the biggest team driver line up changes in years.

The 2015 GForce Keilor Invitational was hosted by the famous Keilor club in Melbourne, Australia. Held on the same weekend as the world famous Reedy Race, the GForce Keilor Invitational is a similar Invite style all-buggy event for the top racers in Australia to compete head to head in a pointscore race. Unique to this event, there is also an Invite class for the ultra competitive 17.5T scene. “Open” classes for Modified and 17.5T were offered, with the winners receiving direct invites to the 2016 edition of the event. The format for the Invite racers was five heats of head-head 2WD racing on Saturday, and another five heats of 4WD on Sunday. The four best results from each class were used to determine the overall winner. Open class racers had four qualifiers Saturday, with a final chance qualifier Sunday morning before the triple A-finals.

The 4th round of the South Swedish Indoor Cup for electric touring cars was held in Växjö on a small to medium sized, quite technical track with yet a good flow. In both practice rounds Magnus Vässmar ended up first, with Markus Hellquist just 0.333 seconds behind in the second round. In the first qualifier Markus Hellquist set the pace, beating Magnus Vässmar’s practice pace by 14/1000nd of a second. Magnus Vässmar was 2nd in the first round a few seconds behind and Daniel Carlsson rounded out the top 3. The track then became slightly slower for each of the following rounds, and no one was able to challenge the top times in round 2 and 3. This meant Markus would take the TQ in front of Magnus.

Bittydesign in collaboration with Team RC Pro and PRC announce the 2015 Asia Contest, an event born in 2013 and known to all drivers who attended the previous editions as “the funniest race they ever participated”. The 3rd edition of one of the largest independent off-road races will be held at the International Pattaya RC Power Boat World track from 24th to 26th of April 2015 and the entries are limited to 192 drivers for the Nitro Buggy class, split into a Pro and Open category. The 3-day event will see fee practice on Friday, qualifiers and an one-off “Thai vs. Foreigners” race on Saturday and the last change qualifiers, super pole and finals on Sunday. After the mid-season Christmas break, the Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series visited the absolutely beautiful Oceanside city of Victoria, British Columbia, for round 5, the Speed Weekend hosted by IROCC and NRC. Both clubs hosted what has been described as the Crown Jewel in the WCICS series, drawing top racers from across Western Canada and the NW USA, including ROAR & WCICS champions. With 230 registrations all 8 classes were hotly contested, and as the series starts the second half of the season the championships battles are heating up.

The fifth Annual January Jam Race was held at the Fabulous Flowood R/C Indoor Park this past weekend with 285 entries running 13 classes. While Cole Ogden came out successful in the 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was Tekno’s Ryan Lutz who swept the 1/8th Nitro Truggy, 1/8th Electric Buggy and 1/8th Electric Truggy classes. In the progress he also came out on top of the field in 1/10th 4WD SCT. Behind Lutz (Tekno) Cole Ogden (TLR) and Chandler Elliot (TLR) rounded out the podium in the 1/8th Truggy class. The Mugen duo of Marc Beck Robbie Darby (Mugen) completed the top 5 result.
