Baggen & Sanza win at RCR Nitro Challenge 2013

The third round of the Belgian nitro on-road nationals took place at the fast track of the Racing Club Roeselare under excellent weather conditions and with a good amount of racers attending. In the 1/8th class that attracted 21 drivers Yves Zoma (Mugen) was the fastest closely followed by Daan Haling (Motonica), Arie Manten (Xray) and Frank Baggen (Serpent). All four pulled 28 laps in qualifying making for some close racing in the finals. Arie Manten, qualifying third was unlucky in his semi as he did not proceed into the final due to a spur gear problem.

JJ Wang dominates 2013 Timezone Nitro Grandprix

Mugen Seiki Factory Driver JJ Wang wins both 1/10 Sedan Class and 1/8 GP On Road at the 2013 Timezone Nitro Grandprix in Battle Ground, Washington.  Driving his Novarossi powered MTX5, JJ qualified 5th into the sedan A-Main.  In the finals, JJ moved up quickly into the lead position and kept the lead to take the win. In the 1/8 GP class, driving the new MRX5 WC edition powered by Novarossi, JJ TQ’d the class with near track breaking lap times.  In the 45 minute finals, choosing a tire change strategy, JJ built up enough lead for the tire change to seal the win and take a double victory at Timezone. The Timezone raceway is a European style track here in the USA and the annual race has been a popular event during summer racing.

Tim Altmann wins RC Lemans Series Rd5

The fifth round of the RC LeMans Series 2013 took place at the EVMC track in Velp, NL. 28 drivers attended in the Pro10 class and after qualifying Rene Fischer took TQ in front of Nic Boon and Tobias Weist who put his car on the third spot in the grid. Qualifying was very close with the top five cars all being within 2 seconds. The overall win after the three finals went to Tim Altmann coming from fifth position and taking all three legs. Rene Fischer dropped one place and ended up in second position with Tobias Weist completing the podium. The lower finals went to Joachim Behnken who took the B final and Mathijs Hermens was successful in the C final.

1/10th Buggy World Championship tyres announced

1/10th Buggy World Championship tyres announced

This year’s IFMAR 1/10th Buggy World Championship at the A Main Hobbies’ Silver Dollar R/C Raceway will be run on Pro-Line Suburbs 2.0 and Scrubs X2 compound tyres, A Main Hobbies announce. The #8213-002 Suburbs rear tyre will be run in both the 2WD and 4WD class with the 4WD class also using the #8214-002 Scrubs front tyre. The two have to be used with stock foam inserts. Tyres will be available at A Main Hobbies’ Silver Dollar R/C Raceway during the event. Find more information here.

2013 BRCA Touring Car Series Rd3 – Report

This past weekend saw round three of the 2013 BRCA Touring Car Series held at the very popular West London circuit which is located only a stone’s throw away from Heathrow Airport. Going into this round both the Super Touring and Pro Stock championship could be decided with Team Durango’s Elliot Harper gunning for the ‘Super Touring’ title and Team Xray’s Zak Finlay going for the ‘Pro Stock’ title. As qualifying got under way Elliot Harper made his intentions very clear by securing TQ in the first three rounds of qualifying. Schumacher’s Chris Grainger driving the company’s Mi5 chassis was also going strong by securing two second place finishes in rounds one and two. Team Associated’s Olly Jefferies and Serpent’s Chris Kerswell were also in the mix but it was looking good for Elliot who seemed to have just that slight edge over the rest of the pack.

Timo Engelstätter wins North German Buggy regionals

Kyosho Germany’s Timo Engelstätter has won the fifth and final round of the North German nitro buggy regionals held at the track of the BOC Kiel. Kyosho team mates Florian Kinzel and Frank Lemke completed the podium with their Team Orion powered Infernos. Timo’s win at the final round of the series also handed him the regional buggy title and the team is now looking forward to the two upcoming rounds of the German nationals in Oberhausen and Bischofsheim.

Alvin Koh wins at RaceWorks Elite Racing Series Rd5

The fifth round of the RaceWorks Elite Racing Series took place under the best possible weather conditions at the RaceWorks on-road circuit in Singapore. In qualifying, it was Team Tamiya SG’s Nicholas Lee, fresh from his win in the 200mm nitro class at the Jakarta Open, who set the pace, securing TQ honours ahead of team-mate Alvin Koh and team ARC Singapore’s Nelson Lee. The final were a nightmare for Nicholas as he suffered technical issues in all four legs. This allowed Alvin Koh to complete a clean sweep of wins in the finals. Team Xray Singapore’s PY Tang finished 2nd while Nelson Lee took 3rd for his first podium of the season. The win let Alvin Koh stretching his lead in the overall standings over PY Tang. Nelson Lee moved up one spot to stand in 3rd after his strong performance this round. In the team standings Team Tamiya SG further consolidated its lead over Team Xray Singapore, while Team ARC Singapore holds the 3rd position. The next round of the season will be on 4th of August.

Bowie Ginting wins 13.5T at Xcampus Challenge Rd1

The First round of the Xcampus Challenge Championship was held at the SIS track in Jakarta. Before the race the organisers modified the track layout and added another technical corner to make the track more challenging. The race was run mainly in 13.5T and FWD classes with 40 competitors attending in total. The 13.5T Boosted qualifying saw Bowie Ginting place his VBC onto the TQ spot with 17 laps in 5.07. Ronny Suwarto was next with his Xray, 7 seconds behind the pole man. Peter Anthony (Yokomo) and Ronald Kasengkang (Tamiya) also scored 17 laps and lined-up in 4th and 5th respectively while young hotshot, Muhammad Izzah was a bit shy of the 17 laps with 16 laps in 5.00,0.017 ahead Teddy Syach who placed 6th. In the FWD class Anton Santoso TQ’d 3 seconds from Christian Mamesah for took the runner-up spot.
