Mikael Fransson takes Swedish 1/8th IC Track title

The recent Swedish Nitro On-road Nationals were held at the big and fast Örebro track with drivers from Sweden, Norway and Denmark in attendance. Saturday was pretty much washed away by the rain and so it was decided to have two additional rounds of qualifying on Sunday morning. In the 1/8th class some drivers decided to race anyway and so the overnight TQ was held by Mikael Fransson from Bengt Andersson. Sunday started off nice and dry and the two remaining rounds would be held in good track conditions. Again Mikael was the fastest in front of Norwegian top driver Tom-Erik Haaversen. Due to the revised time schedule the Super Pole format was cancelled and the top 4 drivers would directly proceed into the A-main with Tom-Erik Haaversen, Magnus Bengtsson and Bengt Andersson being the lucky ones to score a direct spot on the grid behind TQ holder Mikael. In the final Mikael Fransson was able to pull away directly from the start. Behind him it was a close battle between Magnus and Tom-Erik until the latter ran into problems. This meant Magnus could take the runner-up spot in front of Per-Ola Hård who ran a solid final and finished 3rd overall.

Simon Kurzbuch wins at Swiss IC Track Nationals Rd4

The fourth round of the Swiss Nitro On-road Championship recently took place in Langenthal. Already on Friday the drivers took the chance to test engines and bodies but unfortunately it was drizzling on Saturday from time to time but it was never really wet and the qualifying could be held in good track conditions. In the 1/8th class once again Simon Kurzbuch stamped his authority on his home track. He shocked his rivals with lap times under 12 seconds and was the only one to pull 25 laps in qualifying which meant he easily took the pole position for the final as the super pole race went to Silvio Hächler in front of Thomas Henzi and Michael Henzi.

Nicholas Lee wins Urban Touring Series Rd7

Round 7 of Singapore’s Urban Touring Series was held this past weekend at the Urban Onroad Raceway. The event saw the first appearance of top local Nicholas Lee in the 17.5T Blinky Touring Car class. As expected, Nicholas (Yokomo) set the pace in qualifying by scoring TQ runs in the first two of three qualifying rounds. Series leader Dominic Quek (Xray) would have to be contented with a 2nd place start in the A-Main, with YS Heng (Yokomo) in 3rd. The bump-up B-final was led off by Chee Lip Keong (Yokomo) and young Sean Lee (Tamiya), who both looked like they would comfortably bump-up to the A-Main. However, a mistake by Sean at about the 3-minute mark gave Hasron Robana (Xray) the chance to move ahead and eventually snatch the last bump-up.
