First Pictures – O’Donnell Buggy

O'Donnell Buggy

Ok, so we are not claiming to have the first pictures of the O’Donnell buggy but that these pictures we have here are the first of the buggy that Jared Tebo has helped develop along with the O’Donnell team. Whether this buggy would ever be finished has been questioned many times but now as you can see its near completion and R/C Car magazine have gotten the scoop and judging by the oversized watermark they have on all the photos, they are very proud of that fact and so they they should be. What you can see of the buggy, underneath the watermark, is a very refined and nicely finished buggy with C-hubs, carbon shock towers front and rear, very beefy suspension arms and the option of gold anodised machined shock towers, it looks good.

First Pictures – Serpent 960 ’07 version

Serpent 960 '07 version
(Cick image to enlarge)

So we are very excited to bring you the first pictures of the new 1/8th scale for the 2007 season from Serpent, the 960 ’07. The car itself hasnt changed much from the previous car that won last years European A and B titles but it does have some nice optionals now included as standard. First off you notice that the car has a black anodised chassis plate, which is all about the looks, but then you see that it includes the aluminium front upper suspension brackets, servo saver with adjustable ackermann and it also comes as standard with front CVD’s, something customers have been asking for, for some time. We’re told that the car also has harder plastics throughout and will be stiffer, in particular in the drive train where the left sideplate is stronger and along with a redesigned left rear bearing block, eliminates flex in this area.

Robitronic Scalpel full option

Robitronic Scalpel full option

The Robitronic Scalpel has to be one of my favourite cars to have been released in the last year, not only does it look great but it goes like a rocket too. Now the good people over at Robitronic have released details on all the options you can get for the car to make it handle, perform and look even better. And it seems that apart from the actual carbon chassis, you can replace almost everything on the car with a new, and most of the time red anodized, optional part. Robitronic have also released information on the optionals available for the Avid and Protos.

You can find the options pages here (Scalpel), here (Avid) and here (Protos).

The DB12R from BMI Racing

BMI Racing DB12R

A while ago we wrote about the DB12 from BMI Racing when they released images of their prototype 1/12th scale car, well now they have released images of the production version that will be released soon. This car made the A-main at last weekends Snowbirds in the hands of Jason Schreffler having only managed to get 1 day practice with the car before the event, which is a great achievement in such a competitive category.

TTech Racing changes ownership

TTech Racing

According to the website of the TTech Racing, the company has changed ownership and are now owned by a company called Xtreme-RC. The company that makes the rather unique and very technical looking X10 and XRS 1/10th scale buggies will now be better promoted and will hopefully have the extra cash needed to turn it from small company to major player in the off road RC car industry.

Josh Cyrul modified Kyosho Stallion TF-5

CEFX touring car

More car sightings from the Snowbirds, this time we get to see Josh Cyruls self modified electric touring car, which looks based on a Kyosho Stallion TF-5. I don’t know if this car has been seen before, but what is very interesting (click image to make larger) is the one piece carbon fiber bulkhead and chassis stiffener. This layout allows you to run without a high C of G top deck, yet still benefit from a stiff chassis, and I’m pretty sure its a lighter system than the conventional approach taken by other manufacturers. The car also features other self made parts including the chassis, steering blocks as well as the entire, centrally mounted, steering system.

Serpent Electric touring car prototype – First Pictures

Serpent Electric touring car

This weeks Snowbirds sees the first major race outing for the new, and as yet unnamed, Serpent electric touring car prototype. Driven in foam class at the event by Serpent designer Rene Cornella and in the rubber class by US racer Rafael Angula the event is seen as a large scale test session for the new car. The car as you can see from the pictures (click images to view larger photo) is a traditional belt configuration and conforms to the current electric touring car look. According to talk at the event, Serpent are looking to sign some big name racers to their team to develop the car further in time for its summer launch.
