Jilles Groskamp joins Sweep Racing

Sweep Racing have announce that double Euro Touring Series Champion Jilles Groskamp has joined their team. The Tamiya TRF and Team Orion factory driver had this to say about the deal:

After some tests with the Sweep tyres I’m very excited to join the Sweep racing team. As a professional driver I spend many days testing new parts on the car and new electronics and good tyres are needed for this. It allow me to test my Orion powered Tamiya 417 in a perfect way due the fast and consistent tyres of Sweep racing.

Agama USA sign Jason Branham

Agama USA have announced that Jason Branham has joined their growing team. Jason has been consistently rising to the top in the pro 1/8th buggy class in the United States and his recent accolades include a championship win in the 2010 R/C Pro Series in Pro 1/8th buggy, an A main appearance at the Dirt Nitro Challenge in the Pro Buggy Class and a recent podium finish at the Futaba Nitro Challenge last month. Jason had this to say about the deal:

I am very excited to sign with Agama Racing and I want to thank Agama USA, Gene Hickerson and Andrew Smolnik for this opportunity.  I have worked very hard to get to where I’m at today and in signing with Agama they have assured me that they are as committed to racing as I am. Markus Mobers has left Team Serpent

1/12 scale on-road specialist Markus Mobers got in touch to tell us that he recently left Team Serpent as a team-driver and representative. Markus left the team on his own wishes after four years as a member of the company’s travelling race team. Varying product ideas made the end of partnership unpreventable. Markus likes to thank Team Serpent for their support in the past years. The three time in a row European 1/12 stock vice-champion will now join forces with On-Point USA, a new brand on the 1/12 market. The partnership is working on an 1/12 scale upgrade kit, the new car will be available early September. In Europe On-Point USA will be distributed by Speedtech RC Germany.

Dario Balestri joins Contact Tyres

Contact Tyres are very proud to announce that top Italian driver Dario Balestri has joined their international team.  During practice at the 1/8th European Championship in Luxembourg Dario tested Contact Tyres and the performance prompted him to choose our brand for the rest of the year and for 2012. He has already shown great pace with Contact tyres, TQ’ing In Luxembourg, winning his semi final and starting from pole in the main. Dario will compete next week at the 1/10th European Championship in Ettlingen, with Contact brand manager Piero Torregiani there also to support him and all Contact drivers and customers.

Marc Fisher joins Serpent

Marc Fisher joins Serpent

Serpent have announced that top German driver Marc Fischer has joined their team. The former Corally driver made the change after testing the Serpent 411 TC car a few times and having known the S120 well from the many races with Markus Mobers in the past few years. Fischer will be racing the German Nats, EC 1/10 and 1/12, ETS races, LRP and DHI Cup, as well as the 2012 WC with Serpent cars. The former European Champion will also assist Serpent with development and testing.

Yannic Pruemper joins Thunder Power RC

Known throughout Europe as one of the rising stars of touring car racing, 17 year old Yannic Prümper will join 3-time World Champion Marc Rheinard, Viktor Wilck and Thomas Pumpler to represent Team Thunder Power RC. Yannic is relatively new to the top level racing circuit with only a couple years of racing under his belt, this rookie has made all the Pros take notice. Yannic recently raced in the Euro Touring Series (ETS) which finished the sixth round of competition in Andernach, Germany. His skills were well matched to compete among the Pros, as Yannic finished in 3rd place overall for both the race event and ETS series points. Yannic finished just behind fellow TPRC team driver Marc Rheinard and his Yokomo team mate Ronald Volker. “Thunder Power RC will bring a new dimension to my competition level performance. I am looking forward to using the Z3R brushless motors and LiPo batteries.” states Yannic Prumper. “I am excited to be a part of the Thunder Power RC team.”

HPI China sign JJ Wang

HPI China have also announced the signing of JJ Wang to their Racing Team. The 13 year old Chinese-American, who now lives in Shanghai, China has become the best 1:8 GP on-road driver in the country. His versatile talent is not limited to 1:8 GP only, as he has also shown pace in the 1:10 GP and EP class. He will race with HB TCX in future races and is “excited to join the HPI/HB Racing Team this season. And now with the support of HPI/HB, I hope to join more international races. With the new TCX, I also hope to have a successful season”.
