Last weekend at the beautiful Genk track in Belgium 17 year old Maxim Claes was crowned Belgian 1/10th 200mm Champion for the first time after a close battle with his rivals. The end to a fine season that saw him get 6th at the EFRA GP in Herlissheim, 5th place at the Euro ‘B’. Maxim wanted to thank his sponsors RC connect, Capricorn, JP*Gimar, Racing Experience and RC Car Colours and finally a big thanks to his father Alain.
TMA Motorsports have announced the signing of Mike Gee to Team GQ Racing Tires for 2010 and 2011. Mike is a young driver showing excellent talent in 1:10th Nitro Sedan and superb ability to wheel Micro Mod Touring cars. Mike was TQ and placed first at this years East Coast Race Of Champions in 1:10th Nitro Sedan and last year was second at the Micro Nationals Mod Touring. TMA Motorsports and GQ America have announced the signing of Diatta Collymore to Team GQ Racing Tires for 2010 and 2011. Diatta, a young and very fast driver took a 6th place finish at the 2010 US Nationals in the 1:10th Nitro Sedan Class and with his TQ and win at the Region 1 Nitro On-Road Championships, Diatta has had a successful summer campaign. Diatta is now using GQ Tires on his Nitro and Electric cars.
I’m very happy to have GQ Tires and TMA Motorsports as my tire sponsor for the 2010-2011 racing season. After first trying them in the same shores I used to run from other brands on my nitro car, I felt an increase in traction and consistency. On top of that, the wear on my tires was minimal. Motonica Switzerland are pleased to announce that they have signed front running National driver Christophe Pethoud. The former Amateur Champion will run the Motonica P81, having switched from Mugen, and will continue to use Sirio engines. Christophe will also run Blitz bodies in the remaining races this year and throughout next year’s National series.

Team Serpent Ireland are delighted to announce the signing of Derek McCloskey to head their efforts in the Irish 1:8 Off Road competition scene using the new Cobra S811. A multiple champion in electric 1:10 Off Road, the experienced off and onroad racer will debut the buggy this weekend at the penultimate round of the Irish National Championships at the BADMCC track in Northern Ireland as part of his preparations for a full 2011 season campaign. Having tested the buggy at the astro turf Navan Nitro track, which hosts the sixth & final round of this year’s Championship on September 5th, McCloskey was very complimentary of the new Serpent off road entry and is looking forward to getting up to full speed with the Billy Easton creation. Joining Serpent, McCloskey will run Mega engines and use Merlin fuel.

Sweep Racing have announced the signing of 2009 ROAR Electric Offroad 1/8th scale champion Jeremy Potter. Joining their ever growing racing Jeremy had the following to say:
I ran my Sweeps for the first time last night at a local club race. I started out with the Silver Exagon tires in Qualifying as the track was a bit dusty on top with a slight groove underneath. I was amazed at the amount of steering and side bite these tires had. The forward bit was exceptional also. I TQ’d both rounds by over a lap. After 20 minutes of practice and qualifying the tires showed very little wear even in 90 degree weather. For the main I put on a set of red Dirt Effects and was happy I made that choice. The car was so easy to drive and tire wear after 15 minutes was non-existent.

Sweep Racing USA have announced that they have signed Randy Pike to their team to run Sweep tires throughout the season. Randy had this to say about the deal:
After extensive testing I have chosen to run Sweep Racing’s line of offroad and onroad tires. Testing at a private test track showed improved tire wear and lower lap times. Acorn Racing has announced the signing of FEMCA Modified class champion, Mr. KS Chu for the 2010 race season. KS Chu will be running Acorn Racing LiPos and parts in his cars as well as to promote the Acorn Racing product line.
