Tom Cockerill signs for Schumacher

Schumacher have announced the signing of top UK Off Road driver Tom Cockerill to the team. Having previously driven for X-Factory, Tom is a well respected member of the Off Road community and has had an excellent season in 2009, finishing in the top ten in the European Championships and BRCA nationals and also winning his first national earlier this year in dominant fashion. Tom will drive the Cat SX and will also aid in development of new exciting car projects for 2010 and beyond. Joining an already strong factory line up of Simon Moss, Grant Williams and now Tom, 2010 is looking to be an exciting year for the team.

Proline Dirt Arena Winter Series Rd2

Last Sunday saw round 2 of the PDA winter series take place at Bicester. With a brand new track layout the drivers and spectators were sure to see more intense close racing. There were some noticeable absentees in the 2wd class with Tony Truman, Richard Barton and Simon Willets all unable to attend. This allowed the likes of Alex Springer and Keith Newton to gain much needed points. In qualifying there were several drivers who showed good pace but following the 4 rounds it was Alex Springer (Atomic Carbon) on pole with Keith Newton (B4) behind and Scott Follington (B4) rounding off the top 3.

Tebo takes all at Annual Turkey Shootout

The 2nd Annual Turkey Shootout was hosted by Real R/C in Pheasant Hill, MO on November 28-29. The two day race format would consist of qualifying on Saturday and Triple A-Mains on Sunday. This is Kyosho Factory Driver Jared Tebo’s home track and he would go on to TQ and win all 3 Modified classes with his Team Orion powered Kyosho rides. In the 2wd Mod class, Jared won from TQ Racing driver Dave Alberico and Associated racer Rod Rippee, while in 4wd Mod it was Associated pairing of Taylor Jaes and Wayne Snider that would be runners up. The truck Mod class again saw TQ Racing racer Alberico in 2nd, with Gene Cook taking 3rd with his Associated.

Tyler Vik takes ROAR Open Pro E-Buggy Champs

Tekno RC were in touch to tell us that Tyler Vik took the win in the Open Pro Buggy class at last weekend’s ROAR 1/8th Electric Championships. Tyler was driving a Tekno RC equipped Kyosho MP9 with the Elektri-Clutch system and mechanical brakes and finished ahead of Buggy ROAR Pro winner Jeremy Kortz who came home 2nd with Associated team manager Brent Thielke in 3rd. Tyler also finished 3rd on the podium in the ROAR Pro buggy class.

JP Richards dominates Thanksgiving Bash

Last weekend’s Thanksgiving Bash took place at CRCRC Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. CRCRC boasts some of the toughest competition in the Mid West, with factory drivers from Associated, Kyosho, X-Factory and Losi in attendance, and so this was a great test for TQ Racing’s new SX102W buggy. JP Richards TQ’d every round and went on to win the 2wd class with the SX102W ahead of X-Factory driver Dan Griffin in 2nd and Team Losi driver Curtis May in 3rd.

Honigl TQ's and wins Expert World GT in Cleveland

Calandra Racing Concepts drivers Hupo Honigl and Aaron Buran finished 1-2 at the 30th Annual U.S. Indoor Championship in Cleveland, Ohio. Both drivers used the CRC Gen-X 10 car to take a convincing win in the hotly contested World GT division. From pole position, Hupo led every lap and was not pressured until very late in the run when a charging Buran really started to close in. Buran worked through traffic and found himself hot on the heels of the T.Q. driver Honigl by the end of the race.

Kortz takes inagural ROAR 1/8th Electric Buggy title

This past weekend, the first ever ROAR Electric 1:8 Off Road Nationals were held at Revelation Raceway in Pomona California, the truggy results from which we already brought you. There were approximately 130 entries for this inaugural event with each of the major manufacturers being represented by their top guns. Notables in attendance were Ryan Maifield, Adam Drake, Travis Amezcua and Cody King just to name a few. In the 1:8 Buggy class after three hotly contested A mains, it was AKA factory driver Jeremy Kortz who came through for the win with his Losi Xcelorin powered HoBao 1:8 Electric Buggy. This win brings Jeremy’s count of National Championship titles to an impressive 14 and counting.

Adam Rayls wins big at Illinois State Race

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Adam Rayls and Ben Ellis attended the 13th Annual Illinois State Race at Rectors RC Raceway in Alboin IL. Saturday was Stock Class Day and Adam was able to secure the TQ and win in the stock truck class. He was also able to get the TQ in stock buggy and finished 3rd behind winner Jacob Robins and 2nd placed Chris Shieldsmith. In stock 4WD, Jacob Robins took the TQ and win for Associated while Adam finished 2nd with Chris Shieldsmith 3rd. On Sunday for Mod Day, Ben Ellis was able to grab the TQ in 2wd Mod ahead of Adam, while in Mod truck Adam got TQ in front of Ben, while in 4wd Mod Jacob Robins took the TQ spot. In the mains Adam was able to get out to and early lead in all three classes and couldn’t be passed. Adam went on to sweep all three classes in the Mains. Ben Ellis finished 2nd in 2WD and 4WD.
