Jonas Kaerup is Danish National Champ

Our friends from Dansk Hobby Import have been in touch to tell us about their success over the Winter months with their newly signed driver Jonas Kaerup.

Last fall Morfars.dk chose to focus more on the competition segment of the RC market and made a deal with former European Champion Jonas Kaerup to race the Hot Bodies Cyclone for Morfars.dk. Jonas Kaerup has competed in the Danish DASU /national championship all winter in the modified category a class that has been very closely fought with some tremendous races. In the last race of the season, Jonas had to TQ and win in order to take the championship. That is exactly what he did, and after winning all 3 mains he was celebrated as the Danish National Champion 2007/08. Throughout the championship Jonas Kaerup has used GM’s Commander charger, GM Evo3 motors, GM Vis-matched cells, along with Xenon gears, Kanzen bearings, Racer magazine and Much More products, with great success. Morfars.dk wishes to congratulate Jonas Kaerup on his championship success.

2008 Lithuanian Open Nationals

The 6th and final round of the Lithuanian National indoor championship was run last Sunday in Vilnius and we received this report. ‘The Touring Stock class was dominated all season by Tomas Riūka driving a HPI PRO4. Out of the 5 rounds counting Tomas won 4, but he said “the battle for title was not as easy as seemed. The competitors were extremely strong and put a lot of pressure on me at every race but as in any form of racing the important thing was to remain consistent and error free”. The second spot in the series was taken by Donatas Katilauskas with a Tamiya TRF415 MSX who was just behind in the overall championship, while 3rd place belonged to HB Cyclone driver Robertas Daskevičius. In 1/12th Mod it was Corally driver Mindaugas Ambrasas that won the championship after dominating the series, winning all rounds. He had this to say “I had a really bad day at 6th round but managed to win it. I also enjoy that the competition is growing stronger and the class is also growing in number. Next season won’t be easy”. The runner up spot in this class was taken by Lithuanian RC Cars Association president Evaldas Urbonas while the 3rd spot went to Latvian racer Janis Klimenkovs, who showed better speed than Urbonas, but missed number of races and therfore lost crucial amount of points.’

BRCA 1/12th Nationals Round 6

The final race of the 2008 1/12th National series was run last weekend by the Chesterfield Auto Racing Society, who were celebrating their 25th anniversary as a National Host this year. Newly crowned Mod Champion Andy Griffiths, who was sitting on 4th position in qualifying overnight, just managed to secure pole position for the final in Sundays final round, with HB team mate Mick Farrell lining up in 2nd position. Andy managed to get away cleanly in all three finals, and went on to take a relatively comfortable victory in each race to secure top spot at the meeting with a perfect score, his 5th win from 6 rounds.
