Volker defends eSIC title

Having won the inaugural Electric Singapore International Challenge (eSIC) 12-months ago, Mugen Seiki’s Ronald Volker successfully returned to the RCMC race track in Singapore where he defended his title over the weekend.  The former World Champion would kick off the event with a TQ run but some impressive driving from new ARC signing would see Brayden Stanley top Q2.  A close battle in Q3 saw Volker back on top but only just from the Awesomatix of Lucas Urbain, the French driver setting a new track record in his efforts to better the German.  One of the organisers of the eSIC event, Yokomo’s Nicholas Lee took the final qualifier but overall it was Volker who claimed the overall TQ, with Lee second, Hayden third and Urbain fourth.  In A1 the Top 4 finished as they started with a repeat win in A2 giving Volker the overall win.  Winning A3, Australian Stanley would finish runner-up on his eSIC debut with Lee completing the podium ahead of Xpress driver Yugo Nagashima.  In the Cayote 13.5T Open Brushless Class, Danny Lim took the TQ and win ahead of Johnson Tsang with Zaccheus lam completing the podium.

Rheinard European Champion once again after 13-years

13-years on from last holding the title, Awesomatix’s Marc Rheinard is the Monaco RC EFRA 1:10 European Touring Car Champion.  Giving Awesomatix and new electric sponsor Cayote their first European title in the Modified category, Rheinard took the title at the Racing Club Roeselare track in Belgium for the third time having qualified second behind Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski.  With Orlowski having a tough day at the office, it was Rheinard who took the first win of the day’s triple finals.  A rain effected A2 would see defending Champion Bruno Coelho win from Orlowski as Rheinard finished P5 meaning it was all to play for in A3.  However it was Rheinard who came out on top to win getting by Orlowski after a small mistake from the pole.  The title see Rheinard matching his tally of Touring Car World Championship wins and is a major boost for the German ahead of the World Championship in the USA later this year.  Overall Coelho took second with Xray team-mate Alexander Hagberg completing the podium ahead Orlowski.  In Pro stock defending Champion & Top Qualifier made it a double celebration for Awesomatix securing the title with wins in the opening two A-Main encounters.  The German was joined on the podium by Schumacher’s Ollie Payne and local racer Niels Degryze.   In the FWD Class, Danish Team Yokomo driver Frederik Hovgaard took the title from P4 on the grid ahead of the Xray of Top Qualifier Adam Iszay and Stefan Schulz.
