Xray Racing Series UK Off-Road Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the Xray Racing Series UK Off-road was held at Midlands Raceway last weekend. It was another busy day with ten heats of drivers booked into the round and the club team changed the track again and pulled out the tricky jump rhythm section and replaced it with a new table-top, 180 degree corner and step-down section that was a little easier for the drivers but equally fun, along with a huge kicker jump after the main straight to add the 3D element in the challenging layout. The fastest 2WD Mod guys took to the track and were immediately flying with Dom Nunn setting a TQ time in round 1 that wouldn’t be beaten all day.

WRCR Winter Series Rd3 – Report

Round 3 of the WRCR Winter Series was held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds in Saline, Michigan. The 2017/18 season at the Washtenaw RC Raceway is drawing entries beyond the levels of the past five years. With 139 entries in nine classes, most classes had multiple heats of racing action with Stock Buggy fielding 28 cars. This round the traffic ran counter-clockwise making the back straight super fast. The Stock Buggy class continued to grow in round 3 reaching 28 entries. This round 2010 ROAR National Champion joined the party securing TQ for the event after three qualifiers. As the top group jockeyed for starting position behind Kenny, the fight to stay in the A-main continued until the last laps of the last heat. Patrick Ferris and Nat Potter made their last ditch effort to improve their qualifying times vying to bump Tom Erickson and Gary Reiser and getting into the big show. The laps clicked off with both drivers in range. Nat could not hold the pace and finished behind Gary. Patrick was able to finish strong slipping between Tom and Gary. Gary then had to edge up his times to respond. The final group ran fast and smooth which allowed Gary to set the pace he needed in the opening half. All it took was a few laps missing his marks to degrade his pace. In the end he produced his best finish of the day but was not good enough to remain in the A-main.

2017 Fall Brawl – Report

The 2017 Fall Brawl was held at Badlands RC Supercross in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last weekend. Unlike in years past where it was cold, rainy, and the event even had some snow, this year the weather was exceptional for December. Adding to the magic of fantastic weather and great atmosphere, the track was dialed and extremely fun to drive on. Every lap provided challenge and an unexplainable thrill that put a smile on your face. The flow was perfect, the jumps required skill, and even the cross-over was money. All in all, the Fall Brawl keeps getting better every year and this year proved to be an unforgettable outdoor 1/8th nitro experience.

ROAR Region 4 Championships – Report

This year, the ROAR Region 4 Regional Championship was hosted by Coral Springs R/C Car Club in Coral Springs, Florida who provided an awesome layout that was fun and had a lot of flow. Quite unique to the Florida racing scene, the red clay treated with calcium chloride provided ample grip, but the rainfall prior to the event never allowed the track to fully mature into its typical high-grip state leaving it bumpier than usual. In 2WD Modified and showing that he still has the skills to pay the bills, Team Associated driver Jason Ruona takes the highly coveted regional title with a terrific performance in A1 and clutch run in A3 to seal the deal. Team Associated’s Lee Setser would wrap up 2nd with Serpent’s Justin Fales 3rd on the box. Paul Wynn would finish 4th with Chris Intravia 5th overall.
