Essex Winter Series Rd2 – Report

The second round of the 2017/2018 Essex Winter Series took place this weekend at the usual indoor venue in the south-east of the UK. Another fully booked out meeting saw the 110 entries greeted by a band new carpet, identical to that used successfully at the ETS race in Vienna just one week before. In the Modified class, the winner of the opening round of the championship, Olly Jefferies, was looking to continue to build his championship lead – but he was going to have his work cut out as Schumacher’s Elliott Harper set the pace in the opening round, one-and-a-half seconds quicker than Olly’s Xray. Harley Eldridge, no longer classed as a junior this season, took her Yokomo to third in the round, ahead of Olly’s team-mate Alexander Hagberg.

Mathieu Briere doubles at French Champions Cup

The final round of the French 1/10th Electric Off-road Nationals, the Champions Cup, was held in Merlevenez on a purpose-built indoor carpet track. Xray’s Mathieu Briere was the man to beat in 2WD Modified Buggy as the took the overall TQ with the only 17-laps run and he also came out fastest in the opening two A-mains to take the overall win early and in front of Xray teammates Valenti Peuziat and Thibault Berthier.

Hohwart crowned ROAR Paved On-road TC Mod champ

The 2017 ROAR Electric On-road Paved Nationals were held at N-Control in Dale, Texas this past weekend after the event had to be rescheduled due to the devastating Texas flooding earlier this year. In the Touring Modified class Rick Hohwart (Team Associated) and Chris Adams (Xray) battled for the TQ with the better end for Rick who took the pole position for the A-mains in the tie-breaker. Chris Adams came in 2nd from Randy Caster (Team Associated) 3rd. The opening A-main then saw Randy Caster taking a narrow win from Serpent’s Ralph Burch but Rick stroke back in A2 and A3 to take the overall from Randy 2nd and Ralph 3rd. Chris Adams had to settle for 4th overall in front of Team Associated’s Keven Heber in 5th.

SARDA Electric On-road Nationals Rd5 – Report

The fifth and final round of the 2017 South-African ORE national championship was hosted by the Krugersdorp Model Racers and held at the Key West Track. Controlled practise was held on Thursday and Friday in great spring weather and good track conditions ensured a fast pace for all drivers. On Friday night a cold front moved in over Gauteng and the temperature dropped to 13 degrees Celsius which had the drivers changing setups and rethinking strategies for the qualification rounds. The track however held its great characteristics and the pace remained fast throughout the weekend.

Kayla Espinel wins at River Rat Raceway

River Rat Raceway in Palatka, Florida recently held an 1/8th Buggy race and in the E-Buggy class it was Kayla Espinel with the win in the A-main. Blake Raulerson, coming from the 3 spot on the grid, came in 2nd as Earl Bersamin finished the day in 3rd place.

Alexander Landen takes Swedish National Cup

The 3-race Swedish National 1/10th Off-road Cup concluded recently and it was Xray’s Alexander Landen who walked away with the overall win in the 4WD class. With the fourth and final round had to be cancelled due to the weather, Alex had wrapped up a back-to-back championship already after round two as the series saw one drop-out round. Team Associated’s Elias Johansson ended the series on the 2 spot from Wilhelm Skjöldebrand (Team Associated) 3rd.

2018 HotRace Buggy Cup – Announcement

HotRace Tyres have announced the inaugural HotRace Buggy Cup for the 1st to 3rd of June 2018. The race will be held at the Balocco track and it goes in the tradition of the famous HotRace on-road event, thus offering a lot to do and make besides just racing. The race will be held in Nitro Buggy Invitational, Nitro Buggy and Electric Buggy classes and it kicks off on Friday with free practice and a happy hour on Friday evening and it concludes on Sunday with the final qualifiers and finals.
