Norwegian Electric On-road Nationals – Report

The Norwegian Electric Indoor On-road Nationals were held this past weekend on a purpose-built carpet track in Hønefoss, located about two hours from Oslo. The track was laid out with ETS carpet and corner dots and a technical layout made for tight racing action throughout the weekend. In the Touring Modified class, VBC Racing team driver Nikolai Håheim proved to be the man to beat through qualifying as lined up first on the grid. Just behind him came Stock specialist, multiple ETS-finalist and multi-times national champion, Helge Johannessen (ARC). Schumacher driver Tobias Sanden came in third with very steady drives in the qualifiers, conquering a lack of one-lap pace with excellent consistency.

Jasmin & Soulignac win at French EP On-road Nats Rd1

The opening round of the French 1/10th Electric On-road nationals was held in Rumilly in the eastern part of the country. The first of five rounds attracted about 75 drivers to compete in four classes on the famous indoor asphalt track that offered high traction and a challenging layout. The weekend started off with free practice on Friday and resumed with more practice and the first qualifiers on Saturday. In the Touring Modified class Loic Jasmin took the overall TQ after winning three of the five qualifiers to put his car on pole position in front of Alexandre Duchet and Cyril N’Diaye.

Miguel Blanco wins at Venezuelan ISTC Nationals Rd2

Round two of the Venezuelan ISTC National Championship was recently held and the race saw Armando Lenzi taking the overall TQ after some fierce battles with team mate Miguel Blanco in the qualifiers. The A-mains started off pretty well for both drivers with Miguel coming out fastest in the opening leg but a clash between the two in A2 meant Andres Trigo would be able to come out fastest in the second main. The third and final main would bring the decision between the two and it was Miguel who took the win for the overall with Armando coming in second and Adres rounding out the podium in third.

Potter & Shank win at Top Gun Carpet Shootout

The Top Gun Carpet Shootout was held in Kennewick, Washington. In the 2WD Modified Buggy class Jeremy Potter (Xray) took the overall win coming from the 4 spot on the grid. Wins in A1 and A3 secured him the victory from Austin Azure (Xray) in second and Kason Russel (Kyosho) third. In the 4WD Modified Buggy class Darren Shank would end the day on he highest step of the podium, leading an Xray 1-2-3 from Jeremy Potter in second and Kevin Searl third.

Paul Sinclair doubles at Tennessee Winterchamps

The 2017 Tennessee Winterchamps were hosted by Thunder RC in Nashville. Paul Sinclair took the pole position in both 2WD Modified Buggy and 2WD Mod Short Course after swapping TQ runs with Jeremy Daniels throughout the 2WD Mod qualifying. In the 2WD Buggy A-main Paul and Jeremy were battling through several lead changes to the very end. An early wreck made things dicey for TQ Sinclair. Paul was able to gap the field a little bit over the first minute or so, but he rolled his buggy getting on the straight away and Jeremy got through. Pushing hard Paul caught back up to Jeremy, and both battled through the second half of the race. On the very last lap Sinclair turned up the pressure and came out on top.

Marc Valero wins Catalonia Pro10 Champs Rd2

The second round of the Catalonia Pro10 Championship was held at the Rubí track this past weekend. In the Modified class Marc Valero took the overall TQ and he would also walk away with the day’s win after some very close A-mains. Jaime Lacuesta would take the runner-up spot at round two with Sergio Lacuesta coming in 3rd.

Derek McCloskey takes double Winter Champs title

The Irish Navan Nitro Club Winter Championship recently concluded and it was Derek McCloskey who took the overall win in the Nitro and E-Buggy classes. The title in E-Buggy was secured earlier in the Championship after taking victory in six of the first eight rounds but it took till the final round for Derek to secure the Nitro championship, after an epic race seeing three racers fight it out in the last final of the season with the winner taking the race win and the top spot in the championship.

Adam Drake sweeps 2017 Ice Breaker

The 2017 Ice Breaker was held at Indy RC World In Garland, Texas with the event being sold out with 250 entries. Adam Drake was the top qualifier in Nitro Buggy and Electric Buggy and on the second lap of the 45 minute truck final he took the lead and never looked back taking the victory by nearly one lap. Adam also won the electric 1/8th buggy class, bringing home two titles.
