Hagberg & Honigl retain European 1/12th titles

The 2016 European Championships in the classic 1/12 pan car class was held at the Hudy Arena, in Trencin, Slovakia last weekend and Alexander Hagberg gave the following report. ‘The race saw a good field of drivers in both modified and stock 13.5T blinky categories, with drivers from 16 different countries in attendance. In the modified class, I managed to set the pace throughout practice, as well as winning 4 out of 6 qualifiers, it meant that I would start first on the grid come Sunday. I was closely followed at times by my team mate Olly Jefferies from the UK, who put his X12 car 2nd on the grid with 1 TQ run and a solid performance throughout qualifying. The young and talented Dionys Stadler, also put in a great TQ run in Q4, and would eventually qualify 4th overall. This meant that the X12 car would TQ every single round of qualifying in modified, with three different drivers fighting for the TQ.

The track is 40 minutes out off Oslo, and very nice facility, carpet, tight and smooth layout. So everybody was very exited upfront on who is going to take the titles. Saturday started off with 2wd buggy and 2wd Stadium Truck. Team Yokomo driver Daniel Kobbevik took a solid TQ in 2wd buggy, and Calle Svensson from Sweden took TQ in 2wd Truck with his AE T5M.

David Ronnefalk takes eBuggy at Neo 16

David Ronnefalk takes eBuggy at Neo 16

Running alongside Nitro Buggy at last weekend’s Neo race, the eBuggy class was also stacked with quality. Qualifying saw Ryan Lutz take the TQ spot ahead of Team Orion’s Ryan Cavalieri in 2nd and David Ronnefalk 3rd. The single 10-minute A-Main Event would be run on Monday afternoon. With the grid set and the tone sounding, it was Tekno’s Ryan Lutz who would lead the field around for lap #1. Cavalieri & Ronnefalk would work together and keep pace with Lutz. Ronnefalk was able to make it by Cavalieri in the first couple laps and then quickly caught up to Lutz. Ronnefalk would then make a pass for the lead a few laps later and then begin putting in fast laps to try an pull away from the field. Ronnefalk would go onto take the convincing win and the Neo16 1/8 Electric Buggy Championship! Cavalieri put in a great late race charge and would finish a close 2nd. Tekno’s Ryan Lutz would go onto round out the podium in 3rd.

Kaja Novotny wins Czech season opener

Kaja Novotny wins Czech season opener

The first round of the 1/10 Czech nationals 2016 took place in Olomouc and Kaja Novotny wrote this report. ‘This year the organisers have decided to make the series more interesting than in previous year with the first round on carpet, then 2 rounds on clay, followed by 3 rounds on astroturf. We arrived late on Friday for a short practice. In practice I struggled little bit to find the pace for clean 5 minutes run and somehow couldn’t get a clean lap. When arrived to the hotel, we made few changes on the cars which appeared as a right move. On Saturday both my XB2 and XB4’16 worked great since the first lap. In 2wd qualifications I wasn’t the fastest driver on one lap, but the most consistent and took TQ in all three qualifications. In 4wd qualifications my XB4’16 was amazing, however being hit twice in Q1 by one-lap slower drivers meant 2nd place. Nevertheless TQs in Q2 & Q3 meant overall TQ for my XB4’16.

Michael Walton wins BRCA 1/8 Circuit Nats Rd1

The first round of the BRCA 1/8 Circuit Championship took place at the Cotswold Model Car club over the Easter weekend, with the new addition of an electric class to run alongside the nitro powered cars. With one of the highest number of drivers booked in to race within recent years, we were in for a great first round, unfortunately the British weather had other ideas with heavy downpours throughout the weekend. Qualifying saw mixed track conditions with low grip, which left a few big names in the B-final, Steve Scott secured a superb pole position for the 30 minute A-final from Clive Connolly and John Carr.
