Essex Winter Series Rd 2 – Report

The second round of the Essex Winter Series took place this weekend. Again, the series featured a fully-booked entry, but a few last minute withdrawals allowed the organisers to accommodate the majority of the drivers on the waiting list. One of those was current UK National Champion, Olly Jefferies. With Round 1 winner Andy Moore and expected title contender Kyle Branson at the 1/10th 200mm Worlds, championship points would certainly be up for grabs.

Andy Moore renews contract with HB-HPI

HB announce that Andy Moore has signed with HB for another 2 years, to the end of 2016. Andy has been a core member of the on-road racing team since he first joined Team HB and showed his commitment to racing excellence when he gained the ultimate accolade, winning the IFMAR ISTC World Championship in 2006. He is one of the longest-serving members of team HB, and will race the HB Pro 5, R10 and R8 in 2015 and beyond. Here is what Andy has to say about the deal:

I’m extremely happy to be announcing my 2 year contract extension with HB-HPI Racing which will see us working together on- and off-track through until the next On-Road World championships in Beijing, China. Having been a major part of the design, test and development side of our new Pro 5 project, its going to be fun to see customers out there on track after the release and as always Ill be on hand to offer help and support to any racers who need it. Thanks again to Tatsuro Watanabe and Hiro Kasuya for their continued support. See you all at the track.

Wayne Mah wins TC Stock class at WCICS Rd1

Round 1 of the Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series was held in the capital city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The SARCAR RC Club hosted a great event, with eight WCICS classes, including the debut of F1, and as the first round of the season, the championship points are wide open. In the Touring Car Stock class Ryan Rice and his Xray took the early TQ, later bettered by Xray’s Danny Buck. In the main, Danny and Wayne Mah (Awesomatix) battled it out, with Wayne eventually coming out on the top spot of the podium, with Danny in 2nd and Ryan in 3rd. Kim Nielsen wins at Aalborg Buggy Challenge

The Danish Aalborg Buggy Challenge was held at the flowing yet technical indoor track of Aalborg RC. During practice Mike Gosvig, Frederik Hovgaard, Kim Nielsen and Rene Jepsen were all showing very good pace and in the following qualifiers it was Rene Jepsen who took the overall TQ by scoring two round wins.

Xray Challenge Grand Final – Announcement

The Xray Challenge 2015 Grand Final will take place at the World-renown Hudy Racing Arena in Trencin, Slovakia on the weekend of the 10th of May 2015. The race will be held in various classes with all details becoming available soon.

Georgiadis takes Greek National Touring Car title

The final round of the Greek Electric Touring Car nationals was held at the Zorri track in Athens. Going into the final round three drivers were tie on points and able to take the overall championship. Right from the start of the qualification Georgiades made his intentions clear as he won two out of the five qualifiers and nobody else came close to the times he set.

Nathan Waters wins at Silverstone Winter Series Rd2

The second round of the Silverstone Winter Series attracted a full entry in the main 2WD buggy class, on a high grip indoor astroturf track. Nathan Waters drove superbly to take the TQ and a convincing win with his Schumacher Cougar. Team mate Simon Moss set the fastest single laps by far but a couple of errors left him with too much ground to make up and he had to settle for 2nd. Associated driver Greg Williams completed the podium. The smaller 4WD class was won by new Schumacher driver Dave Burton.

Ehrhardt wins at Eastern division LRP-HPI-Challenge

A round of the East German division LRP-HPI-Challenge was held at full time carpet indoor track in Leipzig in five different classes including the fastest Stock class of 10.5T Blinky. This class saw many fast guys attending such as Fabian Ehrhardt, Tony Streit and 1/8th scale drivers Michael Kammer and Merlin Depta. Fabian Ehrhardt took the TQ honours after the qualifiers from former ETS Stock class winner Tony Streit and Karsten Hartinger with all three being separated only by a few tenth of a second.
