Ryan Maker TQ's & wins at NSW State Title 2014

VBC Racing’s Ryan Maker has TQ’d and won a hotly contested Modified field at the 2014 NSW State Titles at Sydney’’s premier SMA track. Ryan wrapped up TQ in the first 3 rounds of qualifying with his Muchmore-powered VBC D06, ahead of Simon Nicholson and Craig McPhee. Ryan took a close win in the first A-main from Simon and Ari. A mistake by Simon on the 3rd lap of A -main 2 gave Ryan a 2 second gap which he was able to maintain and secure his 2nd NSW State Title. Ryan sat out the last final which saw Simon take the win from Ari Bakla (Xray) and Nathan Reese (Xray).

Serpent Challenge Slovenia – Announcement

The Serpent Challenge Slovenia will be held on the 1st of June in Tolmin. The race will be held in 1/10th electric, 1/10th touring, 1/8th track, 1/8th GT/Rally and 1/5th scale classes with a factory driver supported workshop on Saturday while Serpent designer Michael Salven is present for additional support. Robert Batlle takes Spanish E-Buggy nats Rd3

The 3rd round of the Spanish 1/8th E-Buggy national championship was run at the dusty Sant Joan de Moro track. In the final Robert Batlle (Mugen) came out successful in front of Agama’s Dani Vega and Serpent’s Sergio Martinez. Tony Alcala (Serpent), Akejandro Daras (SOAR) and Dani Garcia (Serpent) completed the top 6 result.

AMC/CARS Summer Shootout Rd1 – Report

The 1st round of the ever-popular Summer Shootout Series took place in Chesterfield, UK. These events have become a regular fixture for indoor racers in the UK in recent years and offer the best opportunity to practice and conduct testing on a national standard track with good grip. Once again Action Model Centre are supporting the series this year, which will cater for 1/12 scale LMP12 and GT12 cars as well as GT10. More than 100 drivers made this a capacity event which included drivers of all levels from national winners down to local club racers.

2014 Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions – Report

The 2014 edition of the Reedy International Touring Car Race of Champions was run last weekend. After a 5-year absence the race took place at the Tamiya America track running a 13.5T Stock, Open Modified and the prestigious Invitational class. Both the 13.5T and Modified class where held in the standard format with triple A-mains while the Invitational class saw the iconic Reedy Race format with different heat lineups for each round. As usual the Invitational class collected the creme de la creme of today’s touring car drivers with the likes of Jilles Groskamp, Marc Rheinard, Andy Moore, Atsushi Hara, Ronald Völker, Meen Verjak or Paul Lemieux to name just a few.

Hartson & Motter take wins at JBRL Rd4

The 4th round of the 2014 JBRL Electric series, hosted by OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach, CA would see 265 entries with some of the areas fast guys plus several drivers coming in from out of state. Steven Hartson took the win in the 2WD Modified Buggy with Kevin Motter in 2nd and Jake Thayer in 3rd. Steven also swept the Modified Truck class while Kevin Motter came out successful in 2WD Modified Short Course. Jake Thayer then went on to win the Super Stock Buggy class. Round 5 of the series will be hosted by Controlled Chaos Raceway located in Palmdale, CA on June 14th.

Nielsen & Jenson take wins at JBRL Rd4

This past weekend was JBRL round 4 at OCRC in Huntington Beach, CA wit a great turnout once again for the JBRL with 265 entries for the one day event.  Doug “Casper” Nielsen was able to take a convincing win in Electric 8th scale. Casper drove his Tekin-powered TLR buggy to the victory. He would start the main in P2 loosing out on the TQ by only .8sec over TLR teammate David Jenson. At the tone David Jenson would lead the field for the start of the 10 minute A-main with Casper following close behind and the two would break away from the pack after a few laps. After a couple of minutes into the race David would make a mistake and Casper would be able to capitalise passed David and never look back. TLR/Tekin teammate Ryan Dunford would put in a great run to finish 3rd and take the JBRL points lead with the effort after 4 rounds. In Pro-4 Casper would finish a strong 3rd to put him on the podium with TLR teammates David Jenson first and Ryan Dunford 2nd to ensure a TLR podium sweep with the SCTE 2.0.

Tanner Stees joins Team HB/HPI Racing for 2014

Team HB/HPI Racing welcome 16 year old Tanner Stees from Chandler, Arizona to their family. Tanner has been racing 1/8th scale nitro off-road for nearly 10 years and has continually improved his performances at the National level. Additionally Tanner also competes in the 1/8th scale E-Buggy, Modified Electric 4WD and 2WD 1/10th scale Buggy classes. For the 2014 season Tanner will be using HB/HPI Racing’s line of competition off-road kits and he is looking forward to a great 2014 race season and plans to improve upon his excellent results from 2013.
