Jörn Neumann wins 4WD at 2014 Offroad Wars

Team Durango’s Jörn Neumann went away with the TQ and win in the 4WD class at the 2014 Offroad Wars held at Maritime Raceway this past weekend. In the finals he battled it out with former TD teammate Ellis Stafford (TLR) who ended in second place. After very mixed finals Richard Lowe finally grapped the last remaining podium spot after coming in 2nd in the third A main and after only scoring a 4th and 6th place in leg 1 and 2. Danny McGee and Craig Collinson completed the top 5 result. In the 2WD class Ellis Stafford made a clean sweep by taking the TQ and an early win by taking A main 1 and 2. Richard Lowe had to settle for second while Jörn Neumann ended in third after scoring a DNF in the third leg.

Korgae Scales wins WGT at WCICS Rd6

Round 6 of the Western Canadian Indoor Championship Series was held on the wide open prairies of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The Regina Club FASTRAXX hosted a great event, with 7 classes and championship points all on the line. In the World GT class it was the 2013 WCICS WGT champion, CRC sponsored Korgae Scales with his GenX-10SE that took TQ and win over Team Associated’s Peter Tozser and his RC10R5.1. WCICS President Josh Carter drove his Xray X10 to the final spot on the podium. Next up is round 7 in British Columbia hosted by Thompson Valley RC in Kamloops on March 7-9th.

DRCMU race Rd5 – Report

The Tinglev Modelbilklub recently run round 5 of the DRCMU series for 1/10th electric on-road classes. It was the fifth race of seven this winter. Tinglev Modelbilklub is a little Danish RC club located in Tinglev in the South of Jutland not far away from the German border. Although a little club, Ti-Mo always manage to get a good number of racers to come to their race in the Tinglevhallen. This weekend made no exception as it brought 90 entries in total, and with 74 touring car racers on Sunday it was the biggest one day 1:10 RC race in Denmark. The 30×16 meters track was equipped with a brand new carpet and a new layout.

Niclas Mansson joins Team Associated & Reedy

Following Jesper Rasmussen and Joakim Nicolaisen Team Associated announce the signing of another up and coming Scandinavian talent in the form of Niclas Mansson from Sweden. Niclas is a long standing and loyal Team Associated driver and has committed to the team for 2014. “Mr. Nice” will help spearhead the younger members of the team and brings with him a wealth of experience. Niclas is a well respected, meticulous and likeable young man with exceptional car preparation. This is what Niclas has to say about the deal:

I’ve raced the Team Associated products for many years now and it’s fantastic for me to be part of the Scandinavian team. I’m so excited and cant wait to get my hands on the new cars and have a fantastic summer. Everybody in the team are pumped up and can’t wait to get racing together. Its a fantastic opportunity for me and the rest of the Scandinavian guys to join the team and race the products that are very universal for the tracks here in Europe. I’m really happy with the team set-up and the positive feeling everybody has within the team. Using the Reedy products will also be a huge asset for me when attending some of the large races. My testing so far has been very positive. I’m excited to get started and get myself prepared for the 2014 season. It started off well at the DHI cup and I hope my success continues. Shin Adachi joins Yokomo

Shin Adachi joins Yokomo

Following a two year stint with Hot Bodies following his departure from Kyosho, Shin Adachi has now signed a contract with Yokomo, the Japanese manufacturer announced today. Shin will not only supervise the development of their off-road buggy program he also race the company’s latest touring cars. This is what Yokomo President Tom Yokobori had to say about the deal:

With the 2015 IFMAR Electric Offroad World Championships to be hosted by Yatabe Arena approaching, Yokomo is getting into high-gear to further improve our competition offroad cars. To accelerate this effort, we’re continuing to assemble an international team of World-class drivers. Josh Wheeler extends contract with Xray

US top off-road driver Josh Wheeler will continue to race with the Xray team in 2014, the Slovakian company announce. Josh will race the XB8, XB4 and XT9 in 2014 while attending several high-class races such as the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the Psycho Nitro Blast, the ROAR nationals and of course the IFMAR 1/8 Buggy Worlds. Waters & Cragg win at Schumacher Masters Rd5

This past weekend saw a great entry of 13 heats of drivers enter the Schumacher Masters round five of this hugely competitive championship. During qualifying there were several fast drivers, however after all of the qualifying was over it was Neil Cragg who would set off from pole position in both classes. The finals saw some brilliant close racing action in both classes, all the way through the field and some superb overtaking. In the 2WD class Schumacher’s Nathan Waters came in 1st, followed by Craig Collinson (Team Durango) and Neil Cragg (Team Associated).

Shortcourse Showdown Nationwide Tour Rd1 – Report

The 2014 Shortcourse Showdown Nationwide Tour kicked off in Tacoma, Washington last weekend, hosted by Tacoma RC Raceway, owned by long time racer Scott Brown. Saturday started early with open practice at 7am. After a quick drivers meeting, Scotty Ernst got things going with the first qualifier on the track at 10am. The 2014 season has a few added classes including 2WD and 4WDBuggy, along with Stadium Truck. After 3 rounds of qualifying Micheal Schoetler TQ’ed in Mod 2WD and 4WD Buggy, Chris Gould lead in 4WD SCT and Dave Duncan was on top in stock 2WD Buggy and Short Course Buggy.
