Shin Adachi joins Yokomo

Shin Adachi joins Yokomo

Following a two year stint with Hot Bodies following his departure from Kyosho, Shin Adachi has now signed a contract with Yokomo, the Japanese manufacturer announced today. Shin will not only supervise the development of their off-road buggy program he also race the company’s latest touring cars. This is what Yokomo President Tom Yokobori had to say about the deal:

With the 2015 IFMAR Electric Offroad World Championships to be hosted by Yatabe Arena approaching, Yokomo is getting into high-gear to further improve our competition offroad cars. To accelerate this effort, we’re continuing to assemble an international team of World-class drivers. Team Yokomo, including Naoto Matsukura, recently joined British ace Lee Martin and many highly-skilled team members, will continue actively participating in races around the World. In addition, our experienced team will work together to actively develop leading-edge designs. Yokomo will continue its tradition of exceeding the expectations of our customers by designing the best R/C cars, participating in competitive racing with great sportsmanship, and being active as a team to provide assistance and support.

Josh Wheeler extends contract with Xray

US top off-road driver Josh Wheeler will continue to race with the Xray team in 2014, the Slovakian company announce. Josh will race the XB8, XB4 and XT9 in 2014 while attending several high-class races such as the Dirt Nitro Challenge, the Psycho Nitro Blast, the ROAR nationals and of course the IFMAR 1/8 Buggy Worlds. This is what Josh has to say about the deal:

Waters & Cragg win at Schumacher Masters Rd5

This past weekend saw a great entry of 13 heats of drivers enter the Schumacher Masters round five of this hugely competitive championship. During qualifying there were several fast drivers, however after all of the qualifying was over it was Neil Cragg who would set off from pole position in both classes. The finals saw some brilliant close racing action in both classes, all the way through the field and some superb overtaking. In the 2WD class Schumacher’s Nathan Waters came in 1st, followed by Craig Collinson (Team Durango) and Neil Cragg (Team Associated).

Shortcourse Showdown Nationwide Tour Rd1 – Report

The 2014 Shortcourse Showdown Nationwide Tour kicked off in Tacoma, Washington last weekend, hosted by Tacoma RC Raceway, owned by long time racer Scott Brown. Saturday started early with open practice at 7am. After a quick drivers meeting, Scotty Ernst got things going with the first qualifier on the track at 10am. The 2014 season has a few added classes including 2WD and 4WDBuggy, along with Stadium Truck. After 3 rounds of qualifying Micheal Schoetler TQ’ed in Mod 2WD and 4WD Buggy, Chris Gould lead in 4WD SCT and Dave Duncan was on top in stock 2WD Buggy and Short Course Buggy.

Miguel Matias doubles at Portuguese off-nats Rd1

Last weekend the first ever Portuguese 1/10 4WD and 2WD off-road nationals took place at the ACRP indoor track. The meeting saw 19 entries in 2WD and 27 in the 4WD class. The carpet track had a fast and flowing layout, with a few tight corners, well designed jumps and plenty of entertainment. In 2WD Buggy Miguel Matias totally dominated qualifying, TQ’ing the first 3 rounds. The 2WD finals then were quite eventful and Miguel Matias faced a good challenge from Ricardo Monteiro in the first final, but in the end he won by 2 seconds over Ricardo. In the second leg Matias took the lead again and checked out, handing him an unchallenged win and the overall victory.

Drew Moller signs with Mugen Seiki

Mugen Seiki Racing confirm the signing of Drew Moller through the 2014 racing season. “DrewMo” had an awesome 2013 season with top finishes at the ROAR Nationals, and many other races in America. Now he will join the Mugen USA factory team. Moller will be racing the World Champion MBX7 Buggy, MBX6TR Truggy, and MBX7E ECO E-Buggy at all major events.

Dustin Evans wins at Rumble in the Rockies

The 2014 Rumble in the Rockies were held this past weekend at MHOR Raceway in Denver, Colorado, the home track to TLR/Team Orion super star driver Dustin Evans. This year’s event would bring in a total of 210 entries making for a great weekend of racing. In 2WD Modified Buggy Evans was on fire during the first day of qualifying and would TQ the opening three rounds of 2WD Modified Buggy to guarantee him the overall TQ. Evans would have a great battle with Team Associated’s Kody Numedahl who qualified 2nd overall in all three A-Main Events. Evans would come out on top and take the overall win by winning the first and third A-Main.

Hayato Ishioka wins F1 at Snowbird Nationals

Every year, the Snowbird Nationals provides a record number of entries as well as incredibly tough competition. The 2014 version of the Snowbirds again attracted drivers all over the World including China, Japan, UK, Germany, Canada and France. In the F1 class CRC’s new WTF-1 car dominated, taking a strong 1-2 finish with Hayato Ishioka and Brian Wynn qualified and finished 1st and 2nd respectively.
