Jilles Groskamp wins TC Modified at Ride Cup

While Thailand and Bangkok downtown citizens were the middle of the large protests for democracy, in its suburbs there was still RC racing going on. The Huge RC track and its manager Surikarn kept its door open to host the Ride Cup which was organised by Ride founder and proprietor Ohe-san and his staff. It was surely a good test opportunity for the upcoming TITC, and already some of the best racers like Adachi, Groskamp, Hara, Meen, Moore and Surikarn took the chance to sniff the track challenges, with around 100 drivers in various classes enjoying the cool 25°C Winter in Thailand. The track proved have very good traction, and although slightly bumpy at some areas, it was no problem to put the horsepower down to show some impressive top and cornering speeds. Though it was not such surprise to see the 3 Touring Car World Champions taking the top 3 spots, followed by the local hero and TC GP World champ Meen, the current Touring Car World Champ Jilles Groskamp presented himself with a dominant victory for Tamiya. Driving the new updated Tamiya the Team Orion factory team member left Atsushi Hara and Andy Moore behind. Meen V. came in 4th while Shinosuke Adachi completed the top 5 result.

Wilck extends Speed Passion deal through 2015

Viktor Wilck Speed Passion'd till 2015

Speed Passion have announced that Reedy Race of Champions winner Viktor Wilck will stay with Speed Passion through 2015. The Swede who has used the company’s speed controllers since 2008 will now also use their new range of V4 motors in his Tamiya cars having used Thunder Power for the last three years. This is what Viktor had to say about the new deal:

First of all, I must thank Thunderpower and especially Jim Skinner for the great support over the last 3 years.  We had an amazing time winning many races, with the highlight of being able to win the Reedy Race of Champions 2012. However, it is time for a change. Having been supported by Speed Passion, using their ESC’s since 2008, the natural choice is to go all the way and use the full product line including Speed Passion motors. Speed Passion has always produced high quality products. Since my first sponsorship with Speed Passion’s founder Wilson, I have built a very good relationship with Speed Passion and am looking forward to working together developing the new V4 motor line. Speed Passion will be focusing all their resources in giving me the best possible power package for the 2014 ISTC World Championship in Florida.
