Steve Boice wins at Cleveland Indoor Champs

Team SpeedMerchand driver Steven Boice took the win in the World GT class at the 34th running of the Cleveland Indoor Championships. After a mixed qualifying Steve made the most out of his 6th place on the starting grid, taking second place after only a couple of laps. He then started to chase the leader and ultimately took the first position with around a minute to go. The 2nd place car then made a run at Steve but ended up taking himself out of contention. After that, Steve put it on cruise control and finished with a straight-a-way lead over 2nd place.

Mike Herald wins 17.5T TC at US Indoor Champs

This past weekend the 2013 U.S. Indoor Championships were held at the Holiday Inn at Strongsville, Ohio. As usual, 17.5 Touring was the biggest TC class of the event. The start of the final was fairly clean resulting in a breakaway of about the first 5 or 6 cars, but the following minute or two was a little rough resulting in some tough breaks for Xray’s Sam and Mike Herald Jr.. They both kept pushing hard and around halfway through the feature found themselves 1 and 2 with Herald Jr. leading, and they never looked back. Sam was able to reel in Mike to make it close at the end, but Mike drove flawless and held on to win with Sam Isaacs in second and Dave Johnson in third.

Scott Gilles wins 2WD at Victoria State champs

Scott Gilles wins 2WD at Victoria State champs

The prestigious Victorian State Titles were run last weekend in Australia, with entry numbers pushing 200 and temps over 30 degrees Celsius for the weekend, there was sure to be some hot action. Sunday saw some very strong fields assemble for the 2WD competition, and it was Schumacher’s Scott Gilles who topped the leader board of the Spec motor class in rounds 2 and 3, seemingly securing him the TQ. However, the round 1 winner had other ideas and drove a superb race to eclipse Scott’s time and take the round win in the 4th. This meant Scott would start 2nd on the grid. Leg 1 of the finals saw Scott get off to a great start, shadowing the leader for three laps until he made a small error, the Schumacher driver then made a clean pass and went on to win. Leg 2 saw Scott get involved in the typical first corner struggles and he ended up in 3rd place after some mid-field chasing. In the third leg, Scott made a clean start and put his Cougar buggy into the lead on the second corner, never to be headed or challenged, winning the state title right after taking the runner-up spot the day before in the 4WD class.
