Carsten Keller wins German 8th E-Buggy nats warm-up

The dirt track of the RCRT Duisburg in the western part of Germany saw a busy weekend with the 4th round of the western division regionals, the 6th round of the Brushless Cup and the German nationals warm-up all being held at one race. Nearly 70 drivers attended to tackle the hard-packed and abrasive high-traction track. Saturday saw an early free practice followed by the first qualifiers that had Mugen driver Chris Kammann dominating the field with Carsten Keller and Chris Hahlen in tow. The finals were run according the to the national rules with a runtime of 15 minutes. The semifinal B went to Carsten Keller while Chris Kammann successfully ended the semifinal A who also took pole for the 15 minute A-final. Unfortunately Chris had to retire some minutes into the final leg with a broken bearing. This made way for Kyosho’s Carsten Keller who controlled the proceedings and eventually won the race in front of Chris Hahlen (Mugen) and Oeter Schulte-Batenbrock (Mugen).

Super Cup Championship Series Rd1 – Report

The Fall session of the JConcepts Super Cup started off with a bang on Saturday August 3rd at Space Coast RC in Cocoa FL. Shiverville Raceway was the original scheduled host for this race but with three weeks of rain taking a toll on the track, SCRC was asked to help out with a quick location change and only one week to prepare. SCRC Track owner, Angel Echevarri accepted the race and had the track ready for the 195 entries that began to arrive on Friday afternoon.

Neil Cragg secures 2013 BRCA 4WD buggy title

A win at the recent BRCA 1/10th off-road nationals in Stotfold secures Team Associated’s Neil Cragg the early win of the 2013 BRCA 4WD buggy title with one round remaining. Neil has scored maximum points in three rounds so far and can complete his 17th BRCA National Championship with a perfect score at Oswestry in the final round. Leading the points in the 2WD category entering the final round, Neil is in the driver’s seat to capture his second title this year.

Gadermayer & Pfeifhofer win at Austrian nats Rd3

Last weekend saw the third round of the Austrian 1/10th off-road nationals held in Salzburg, after catastrophic weather conditions lead to a cancellation of round two in Steyregg. The biggest challenge for the racers was the extremely loose track, some of the locals raced old B4 cars with brushed speed controller and motors or only 1S LiPo batteries in the 2WD class. After four rounds of qualifying it was former Euro A-finalist Michael Gademayer who placed his Team Associated B4 with an old Nosram Dominator speedo and Reedy 12×1 motor on the TQ spot in 2WD and Hupo Hönigl (Team Durango) TQ’d three out of four rounds in 4WD.

The 2013 Outdoor ROAR regionals were held in Cincinnati, Ohio and after two rain cancellations, the race finally took place at the end of July. On a last minute notice, the rain held off and the qualifiers started with VBC Racing’s Dave Johnson taking TQ after a first place finish in the third qualifier. In the main Johnson pulled away from the field to establish a  5 second lead and securing the victory with the upcoming VBC Wildfire D06.

Belgian SCT Cup Rd4 – Report

The fourth round of the Belgian SCT Cup took place in the city of Enghien as part of a modelling fair. The temporary track was build in front of the Enghien castle and made with the support of MCM Racing, MC-Events and the city of Enghien. The race, directed by Jean-Paul Voumard and Edouard-Benoît Michez, attracted a lot of visitors who enjoyed the show. Nearly 40 drivers attended in the 2WD and 4WD class with the rear wheel class especially attracting younger drivers. In 2WD qualification, Nicolas Evens (TLR 22SCT) TQ’ed all rounds followed by Philippe Hautecoeur, Martin Vierin and Cédric Vandeginste, all running AE SC10’s, and all of which ended up equal on points after qualification. Jean-François Renard (TLR 22SCT) rounded out the top 5, trying to find the speed on this track after his win in Merchtem.

Michael Orlowski wins Junior European TC title

On last weekend‘s EFRA European Electric Touring Car championship Team Durango’s Michael Orlowski won the Junior European title by finishing 7th in the B final. The young Polish driver, who also is a successful competitor in the Euro Offroad Series, used a prototype of Team Durango’s forthcoming DETC410 touring car as did Michal’s team mate Elliott Harper who finished third overall.

Gribov & Plamodyanov win at Russian off-road champs

The Russian 1/8th off-road championships were held at the Raduga Raceway in 1/8th nitro and electric buggy. The track saw a major make-over in Spring and is considered to be one of the best locations in Russia today. In the 1/8th nitro buggy class the TQ went to Nikita Pomogayev who won the nationals in 2011 and 2012 but at the end it was Dmitry Gribov who profited of a last lap accident between current champion Nikita and Igor Waltsifer. The podium was completed by David Ishkhanyan.
