Brian Henn wins Pro4 & E-Buggy ROAR region 9 titles

The ROAR Region 9 Roar Off-Road Regionals took place at Thornhill RC in Hutto, TX. Thornhill is a massive outdoor track that made for some great racing. Saturday had four rounds of qualifiers and in Pro4 SC, Brian Henn was able to TQ the first three qualifiers and sit out the fourth. In E-Buggy, Henn TQ’ed round 1, AE’s Jake Dellinger took round two and in the third round, Henn was able to snag TQ once again. Heading into the last round, both drivers were going to be pushing hard for the top qualifier position. Dellinger was able to take the round and since both had two TQs it went out to the third quickest run which gave Henn the pole position for E-buggy. On main day all electric classes did a double A format. In Pro4, Henn was able to win A1, and A2 securing the ROAR Region 9 title. In E-Buggy, Dellinger and Henn had a very close battle for the majority of A1. Brian was able to grab the win by only a few seconds. In A2, the two had an early battle brewing, but a costly mistake by Dellinger cost him some time in the last few laps. Henn went on to take the A2 win and his second ROAR Region 9 title this weekend.

Belgian touring car nationals Rd7 – Report

The seventh and final round of the Belgian touring car nationals took place at the outdoor track of the Mrcz in Zwevegem. The track itself was an improvised affair in the parking lot of the club, it proofed to be very technical but also fast. The grip was very low and everyone was searching for the right setup on Saturday’s practice. In the Efra class it was Olivier Bultynck who took TQ in front of Manuel Henriet, both split by only 0.3 sec. Those two were very fast and everyone was convinced that the win would be for one of them but everything is possible in the finals. Nick Joosens was third on the grid and Thomas Stockman was fourth on his hometrack.

Alvin Koh wins RaceWorks Elite Racing Series title

The final round of the first RaceWorks Elite Racing series took place at the RaceWorks Arena’s on-road circuit in Singapore. The overall winner of both the driver’s and team championships would be crowned at this event after a 9-month long season. Sitting in pole position for the series win was Team Tamiya SG’s Alvin Koh, who held a slender 3.5 point lead over PY Tang from Team Xray Singapore. Team Tamiya SG was also primed to take the overall team title. In qualifying, Team Xray Singapore’s PY Tang would come out on top, with Team Tamiya SG’s Nicholas Lee in second spot. Continuing the late season form was Team Yokomo Singapore’s Alan Leung. Alvin Koh was only able to qualify in 4th.

Danish 1/10 off-road champs season final – Report

This year’s seven round DRCMU off-road outdoor series came to an end with a Grand Finale at the challenging astro turf track of the Odense RC Minirace club. The DRCMU series this year has seen one of the most competitive for many years. Some experienced drivers, previous champions and some of the best touring car drivers have joined or rejoined the buggy scene giving the regular drivers serious competition. Typical Danish weather with a mix of heavy showers and sun was the icing on the cake, challenging drivers to some last minute tyre and setup changes. The special point system for the final race that saw additional points for the TQ and other achievements and with competition so close, four drivers could become champion depending on the outcome of this final round. As things unfolded Associated driver Jonas Kaerup finally got everything together after a mixed season with unstable results. He won the first to A final legs in the 2WD class with Torben Hoejfeldt (Team C) taking second place. Lasse Nielsen ended the race in 3rd position. After calculating the point for the 2013 season the 2WD championship went to Torben Hoejfeldt.

Martin Hofer wins at Touring Master Series Rd3

The past weekend Martin Hofer managed to TQ and win the 3rd round of the Conrad backed German Touring Master Series. Founded by Uwe Rheinard, the man behind the ETS series, the collaboration with Conrad aims at bringing the ETS flair down to a more local audience. Therefore the series consists of 5 races spread across Germany. Round 3 hosted by the MAC Burgdorf, the club that pulled off the last minute event that was the 2010 worlds, attracted a good number of top level racers despite a very tight racing schedule for most in September. Martin TQed both ProStock and Modified class and managed to pull off perfect finals by taking a comfortable win in both categories. Round 4 is to end the outdoor season at the beautiful facility of the MSC Höckendorf on 21st/22nd of September.

Viktor Wilck wins Swedish TC nationals

Tamiya’s Viktor Wilck has won his fourth Swedish national title by winning at this year’s Swedish electric touring car nationals. The vice championship went to Xray’s Alexander Hagberg with Jonas Andersson completing the podium.

ROCS 2013 Grand Finale – Report

Competition in the second season of the RaceWorks Singapore Onroad Championship Series culminated in the season finale last Sunday. Featuring three classes, the ORCA SuperStock class (13.5T boosted), ORCA Spec class (17.5T blinky) and the Open 1/12 PanCar class, the season finale saw some 50 participants sign up to enjoy a day of racing action. In the ORCA SuperStock class, Daryl Thong, who was the series leader coming into this round, looked good in practice. In the first round of qualifying, however, a radio glitch resulted in a head-on crash into the wall at the end of the straight which snapped his chassis in two. Daryl was able to save his season by miraculously re-building his car on a new chassis within some 50 minutes, taking to the track just minutes before the start of Q2. With some impressive work, Daryl put in a TQ run despite not having setup the car as he simply ran out of time. With his car all set-up, Daryl was able to win all three legs of the final to win this round, his fourth race win of the season, and with it the overall series title. Alan Pang finished overall 2nd, while Colin Tong was overall 3rd.

2013 Sidewinder Nitro Explosion – Report

Chula Vista Raceway was the scene for the 2013 Sidewinder Nitro Explosion with 170 entries and several pros in attendance. In the Truggy class it was Drew Moller who set the TQ starting first on the grid with Pro-Line team mate Adam Drake starting second. Drake would make an early race pass on Drew and lead the field around for the remainder of the 45 minute final. In the end Drake would take the win with Moller in second and Sean Gaffney in third.
