R1 Wurks Digital 2 brushless speed controller

R1 Wurks Digital 2 brushless speed controller

Coming from R1 Wurks is the new Digital 2 brushless speed controller. Rated at 200A constant current, the controller is usable with modified motors down to 3.0T but a blinky mode for zero timing spec racing makes it usable for non-boosted classes also. Several boost and turbo functions add to the extensive software features that include power delivery and brake strength settings. The unit also features the A.C.L.C. Advanced Component Level Cooling system, this design allows individual Mosfets to transfer heat directly to the upper heatsink. The power switch-less safety first system forces the user to disconnect the battery when its time to power off the controller, minimising the chances of leaving a live battery from draining. The controller is housed in a black anodised case with a specially designed heatsink and it is adjustable using a digital programming box.

Muchmore Impact HV FD2 & Max-Punch FD2 LiPo packs

Muchmore Impact HV FD2 & Max-Punch FD2 5200mAh LiPo packs

Coming from Muchmore are two new 5200mAh LiPo battery packs. First up is the Impact HV FD2 5200mAh 110C LiHV battery, made using the latest generation LiHV cells with a higher nominal voltage. Using LiHV-compatible chargers a 2S pack can be charged up to 8.7V allowing for higher output voltage. LiHV packs are also good to be charged to the standard 8.4V for sanctioned races with the flat discharge curve compared to regular packs making for more punch towards the end of a run. The pack measures a standard 138×46.5mm but the reduced height of 22.3mm makes for an overall lower centre of gravity. The hardcase battery pack is equipped with 4mm bullet-type connectors.

Team Powers Actinium V2 brushless motors

Team Powers Actinium V2 brushless motors

Team Powers have introduced the Actinium V2 brushless motors. The version 2 features a redesigned stator with lower resistance and improved power efficiency, which reduces the motor’s running temperature. The new case design incorporates an air flow convection system to keep motor temperatures down by 10 to 15 degrees. On top of this the new neodymium rotors produce a stronger magnetic field than the previous Actinium, by almost 10 percent, and they fade less at the end of a run for more power in the decisive moments of a main. The motor is rounded out by a new endbell design that has a greater range of timing, this gives the racer the ability to tailor the motor to his gearing and also changing track conditions. The V2 will become available in a range of modified and stock windings very soon.

Hobbywing XeRun XR8 SCT brushless speed controller

Hobbywing XeRun XR8 SCT brushless speed controller

Hobbywing have introduced their new XeRun XR8 SCT brushless speed controller for 1/10th scale short course and monster trucks as well as 1/8th scale buggies and on-road cars. At 54.1×37.2×36.1mm the controller is of a more compact design and about 36.5g lighter than the XR8 Plus for easier positioning even in crowded environments. The controller features a built-in high-voltage BEC system with adjustable 6V to 7.4V output to securely power even power hungry high-torque and high-speed servos and it is usable with up to 4S LiPo battery packs. A special firmware makes for ultra-smooth throttle response and off-throttle coasting and the ESC is widely programmable using Hobbywing’s LCD programming box or WiFi module. The speedo is rounded out by a rubber-protected electronic switch.

Maclan Racing MMax Pro competition brushless ESC

Maclan Racing MMax Pro competition brushless ESC

Coming from Maclan Racing is the new MMax Pro 160A competition brushless speed controller. Developed from the ground up over the last 18 month the speedo utilises an ultra-high performance 32-bit CPU as its central processing brain and compared to the last generation 8-bit CPUs, the 32-bit CPU in the MMax Pro ESC runs at much higher clock speed and bandwidth. The speedo utilises a completely redesigned all-new algorithm firmware to maximise its strength while offering the smoothest throttle and the strongest yet precise braking. The controller offers 12 pre-loaded profiles for all on-road and off-road applications including Stock blinky and low-turn Modified racing. All parameters are adjustable using the on-board USB port and Maclan’s MS Windows-compatible software. Other features include a full aluminium case for improved cooling, it comes with a high-voltage 30mm turbo fan, adjustable 6V to 7.4V high-voltage BEC system and data logging capability. The controller will hit the stores by end of October.
