Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri has taken the 4WD Buggy crown at the Euro Offroad Series Pilot Event after taking victory over Joern Neumann in the final race of the day here in Tomelilla, Sweden. Three drivers went into the third A-Main with a chance of the title but before the first lap was even completed Top Qualifier Dustin Evans’ challenge was over.
Dustin Evans is the 2WD Buggy champion at the Euro Offroad Series pilot event after a great battle with fellow American Ryan Cavalieri which the Team Losi Racing driver described as one of the best 2WD battles he has every had. The third leg of the final was the deciding round with Evans and Top Qualifier Cavalieri having taken a win each.
Dustin Evans has taken the opening A-main in 2WD Buggy at the Euro Offroad Series in Sweden heading home Top Qualifier Ryan Cavalieri and Hupo Honigl. Mixing it with fellow American Cavalieri for much of the race, the Team Losi Racing driver eventually took to the front when Cavalieri came short over the double into the Kyosho corner. Evans tried a move just after the large Durango double and ended up tangling with Cavalieri, a move the Reedy Race of Champions winner said was a little too aggressive.
Dustin Evans is the 4WD Buggy Top Qualifier for the Euro Offroad Series Pilot event giving Team Losi Racing chief David Spashett an extra reason to celebrate on his birthday here in Sweden. Only Ryan Cavalieri could deny the Reedy Race of Champions winner’s pole position going in to the final round of qualifying but Team Durango’s Joern Neumann put pay to that when he TQ’d Q5 to become the only driver to head the Americans in either buggy class.
Team Associated have taken the honour of being the first manufacturer to TQ a Euro Offroad Series race after Ryan Cavalieri produced a clean sweep of fastest runs on Day 2 of the Pilot event in Tomelilla, Sweden. The American outpaced yesterday’s Q1 top qualifier Dustin Evans in all four of today’s rounds of heats with European Champion Lee Martin third on each occasion and this is how they will line up for tomorrow’s A-Main.
The Euro Offroad Series’ first ever round of qualifying has been dominated by American drivers with Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri topping 4WD in both buggy & Short Course truck while Team Losi Racing’s Dustin Evans reigned over 2WD.
Practice continues in Sweden at the first ever Euro Offroad Series race with drivers having completed three five minute runs on the indoor clay Tomelilla track. With a racing groove starting to appear drivers have two final opportunities to get their cars dialed-in ahead of the first round of qualifying. While times from the opening three practice don’t count for anything, each driver’s three fastest consecutive laps from P4 or P5 will count towards reseeding the heats.
Kyosho are the latest manufacturer to put their support behind the new ‘Euro Offroad Series’ concept by entering Japanese ace Shin Adachi for the April 1-3 pilot event in Tomelilla, Sweden. The seven time Japanese National off road champion joins a host of top international drivers for the three day indoor clay surface event that will see official factory representation from Team Associated, Losi, Tamiya, Durango and Kyosho. Responsible for the development of Kyosho’s electric competition cars, Adachi will join a strong local Kyosho squad. Teenagers Mikael Johansson and David Ronnefalk both hold European Junior Off Road titles and are the reigning Swedish national EP champions – Johansson the title holder in 2WD and 15-year-old Ronnefalk the champion in 4WD. Both up & coming talents will be hoping to put their knowledge of the Tomelilla track to good use and make their mark in one weeks time.
