Volker claims super close Q2 from Rheinard

Volker claims super close Q2 from Rheinard

Ronald Volker claimed what could turn out to be crucial TQ run in a super close second qualifier at the ETS in Luxembourg. The Yokomo driver snatched the fastest time on the final lap from arch rival Marc Rheinard, the German power houses separated by just 0.039 of a second. Having taken the opening qualifier Bruno Coelho would struggle in Q2 eventually deciding to pull with a suspected bad set of tyres. With the championship leader having problems it would be Team Infinity driver Jilles Groskamp who would be the top Xray taking his example to third ahead of the factory car of Alexander Hagberg.

Coelho from Volker in Q1

fri_brunoo-1-770x463

Bruno Coelho has TQ’d the opening round of qualifying at the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg. The championship leader topped the times by just 0.135 of a second from reigning champion Ronald Volker with this year’s other title contender Marc Rheinard completing the Top 3. For Rheinard it initially looked like his opening qualifier would amount to nothing as his transponder failed to register once the qualifier started but in a sporting gesture from his rivals in the top heat they agreed to allow a manual correction of the result to reflect his P3 position on the track when he crossed the finish line.

Final practice sees big improvement for Rheinard

Final practice sees big improvement for Rheinard

There was a big improvement from Marc Rheinard in the final practice at ETS Luxembourg with the Tamiya driver improving from 10th the 2nd fastest as many drivers failed to better their opening timed practice times. Fastest for the second round, Rheinard got to within 4/10ths of Bruno Coelho’s earlier time, the Xray driver remaining the top seed for qualifying which gets underway this evening. With Rheinard demoting Jilles Groskamp who failed to better his time back to third, the third of the title contenders Ronald Volker would find himself demoted to P6 as his Yokomo team-mate Hayato Matsuzaki managed to get three laps together to go fourth fastest ahead of Lucas Urbain.

Coelho leads way in 1st timed practice at ETS Luxembourg

Coelho leads way in 1st timed practice at ENS Luxembourg

Bruno Coelho has set the pace in the first of the two timed practices at the penultimate round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Luxembourg. Last year’s race winner posted the fastest 3-laps ahead of Jilles Groskamp stretching his advantage over the Dutch driver, the pair more evenly match in the morning’s untimed practice. Behind them it was local hero Lucas Urbain who would complete the Top 3 with a time 1/1000th of a second faster than defending champion Ronald Volker. A crucial weekend in the three way title battle, it wasn’t a great start to the weekend for Marc Rheinard as he found himself only 10th fastest over 1.4-seconds off points leader Coelho.

ETS hits 50 as Coelho LUX for title success

press_lux-770x462

The penultimate round of the Euro Touring Series travels to Luxembourg this weekend (23-25 June) and to one of the most unique circuits in the world. With its famous Laguna Seca corkscrew section, Mini Circuit ‘Ville de Luxembourg’, plays host to the ETS for a third time as the race marks the 50th race in the world famous championship’s history. While marking a significant milestone for series founders Uwe Rehinard and Scotty Ernst, on track all the attention will be on the three way driver/manufacturer on track battle for the Season #9 Volante Modified title. Securing victory at the previous round which marked the start of the outdoor half of the season, it is Bruno Coelho who leads the way coming into the weekend. Last year the large track proved a very happy hunting ground for the Xray star as it was where he would claim his first ever win of the high profile championship and a win this Sunday evening would see him crowned only the fourth different champion of the ETS.

Coelho puts it up to ETS rivals with convincing Italian asphalt win

Coelho puts it up to ETS rivals with convincing Italian asphalt win

Bruno Coelho has put it up to his title rivals by taking a convincing win today at the first asphalt round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy. Handed an easy win in A1, the Top Qualifier would wrap up an extra early win in Riccione with another unchallenged win in A2. With the finals run early due to the impending threat of rain at the first outdoor race of ETS Season #9, completing the perfect weekend gives the Xray driver an extended lead in the championship standings as he becomes the season’s first double winner. With Marc Rheinard ending up with a 3rd for Round 4 behind A3 winner Viljami Kutvonen, the Tamiya driver is now 5 points behind Coelho with two races remaining in which to reverse that deficit. With reigning champion Ronald Volker only fifth in Italy, his quest for a 6th consecutive title is looking increasingly difficult as he leaves 7-points behind Coelho.

Coelho handed easy A1 win

Coelho handed easy A1 win

Bruno Coelho has taken an easy win in the opening A-Main at Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy.  The Top Qualifier was effectively handed the race early on when second place starter Viljami Kutvonen got out of shape, collecting Marc Rheinard and putting both drivers on the grass.  Allowing Alexander Hagberg through to second the Swede would stay there for the remainder of an otherwise relatively uneventful race with Ronald Volker completing the podium.  The key pass of the race would be pulled off by Capricorn’s Kyle Branson, the British driver getting a run on Serpent’s Viktor Wilck onto the straight to secure 4th.

Coelho TQs in Italy as Rheinard takes final qualifier

sat_TQbruno-770x462

Bruno Coelho is Top Qualifier for Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series, the Xray driver bagging pole position for the first asphalt race of the season in a reduced qualifying at the Road Race Riccione track in Italy.  With overnight rain having delayed the start of the second day’s action, qualifying would be cut to three rounds meaning only Q1 winner Viljami Kutvonen could deny championship leader Coelho his second TQ start of the season.  With both drivers having to do the qualifier on used tyres having ran both allocated sets yesterday when Coelho took Q2, it would be Marc Rheinard who would top the third round.  Gambling on saving his second set of tyres for today in the hope it would be dry, the Tamiya driver would take a sunny Q3 ahead of Alexander Hagberg, who was also on new tyres, with Coelho the best on used rubber in third.  With 2 from 3 to count Coelho’s 19 lap Q2 time would give him pole over Kutvonen with Rheinard set to line-up 3rd.  For reigning champion and last year’s race Top Qualifier Ronald Volker a P4 in Q3 would secure the Yokomo driver 5th on the grid.
