Devoll & Mayo win at JBRL Electric Series Rd4

OC/RC Raceway of Huntington Beach, California played host for round 4 of this year’s JBRL Electric Series this past weekend. The event offered the usual array of Modified and Stock classes and in 2WD Open Buggy it was young Ron Devoll (Team Associated) with the win from AE teammate, Jake Mayo in 2nd and Mason Eppley who would end the day on the 3rd spot. The win in 4WD Open Buggy went to Team Associated’s Jake Mayo from Tekno RC’s Carlos Arredondo on the runner-up spot. Dylan Nelson would round out the top 3 podium result for TLR.

Bartosz Zalewski wins at Oder Pomerania Cup Rd2

Round 2 of the Oder Pomerania Cup was held at the RC Speedracer club in Bernau near Berlin, Germany. The schedule for the weekend was free practice on Saturday followed by the opening round of qualifiers with three more qualifiers on Sunday and double finals. Bartosz Zalewski took the overall 1/8th E-Buggy TQ after the qualifiers that were held in quite slippery conditions due to light rain. In the double A-mains it was again Bartosz who excelled and he took the overall from Steven Nortdorf 2nd and Thilo Schittko 3rd.

Xray Racing Series Australia Rd4 – Report

Round four of the Xray Racing Series Australia was held this past weekend with an absolute freezing start to the day and ice on the grass but it warmed just nicely and everyone had a nice event ahead. Racing was quite close in all classes, overall TQs were decided by hundreds of second a winner of almost classes were decided in last final. In the Touring Modified class, Jeffrey Mackie (Awesomatix) was on point and took the overall TQ and win in front of Ari Bakla (Xray) and Lionel Saunders (Xray) in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Tassos Paparegas wins Greek 1/8th Buggy Nats

Last weekend saw the running of the Greek 1/8th Buggy Championship at the newly established Speed Track Ready facility in Athens. In the 35-minutes main final Tassos Paparegas (Xray) battled it out with Giannis Papanikolaou (Kyosho) but later in the run Tassos was able to pull away for the win in front of Giannis on the runner-up spot. In 3rd, Yannis Perogiannakis (Mugen) rounded out the podium result.

Wesley Van Helmond takes 7th national title

The fourth round of the Belgian Electric Off-road Nationals was held at the MAC Vlijmen track this past weekend. Going into this event Wesley Van Helmond knew that he only needed to finish 3rd in both the 2WD and 4WD Buggy classes to wrap up the titles. In 2WD he took TQ and won legs 1 and 2 of the A-finals while in 4wd he qualified 2nd on the grid but again won legs 1 and 2 with some superb driving and overtakes to once again take the victory. Therefore he has wrapped up his 7th National Championship with one round still to go.

Widmaier & Voldenauer win at BAWÜ Cup

Leinfelden in Germany played host to the BAWÜ Cup this past weekend and it was SWorkz’s Micha Widmaier with the win in both the Nitro Buggy and Electric Truggy classes. The Mugen duo of Stefan Byesse and Luca Schmid would round out the Nitro Buggy top 3 while Udo Öhler and Andreas Rüüp (both SWorkz) completed the Electric Truggy podium. Elsewhere in the E-Buggy class it was Morris Voldenauer (SWorkz) with the win from Patrick Müller (Mugen) and Victor Gabriel (Kyosho).

CTS3 Rd5 – Report

P1 Hobbies in Ukiah, California played host to round 5 of the 2018 CTS3 and the event’s name was called Heat which was perfect since temperatures reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The track was run counter clockwise which included a down hill straight away and a center kink making it almost difficult to drive hard and go fast. In Modified Touring Car, it was Rick Hohwart setting the early TQ and kept setting the bar higher with a super fast Q3. Rick’s prototype TC7.2 became quickly noticed and was the car to beat as he won tone to tone in the main with David Jun (Team Associated) 2nd and Brandon Clements (Awesomatix) in the 3rd. The points chase is close for these three drivers leading to two more rounds in the series.

JJ Wang wins 200mm class at KO Grand Prix

The KO Propo Grand Prix was held at Steel City RC Raceway in Fontana, California this past weekend. The event was held in several 1/8th and 1/10th and 1/5th classes and in 1/10th 200mm Nitro Sedan it was Mugen’s JJ Wang with the TQ from Xray’s Mike Swauger on the 2 spot after the qualifiers. JJ then also brought home the win in the 30-minutes main final some twelve seconds in front of Mike Swauger as Bryce Butterfield rounded out the podium result for Xray some two laps down. DJ Apolaro and Jose Casas would complete the top 5 results.
