Andy Tan wins Urban F1 League opener

Round 1 of the 2018 Urban F1 League saw a smaller than usual turnout, but the on-track action was just as intense, if not more so than in the previous rounds. When the dust had settled, it was several new faces that grabbed the headlines. Taking pole position after the 10-minute qualifier was newcomer, Tapana V, who laid down his best three laps in the last minute of action to dislodge Charles Lim into P2, with Andy Tan in P3. In A1, Tapana could not hold on for the win, as Andy Tan ran a mistake-free race to take the win. Tapana bounced back with a tone-to-tone victory in A2 to set up a showdown in the final leg. At the start of A3, Tapana suffered a setback as a multiple-car collision at turn 1 dropped him to the back of the pack. Andy Tan came through unscathed and managed to hang on for the win from a hard-charging Patrick Ong.

JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series Rd2 – Report

Round 2 of the 2018 JConcepts Super Cup Championship Series made its way over to Newberry, Florida, home to one of the raddest RC tracks in the Sunshine state. Without a doubt, the size and premise of Newberry’s track are just about perfect for a 1/10th scale outdoor track. With a dialed, low-style driver stand to bring you closer to the action is a recipe for an exciting time in Newberry. Florida’s winter is actually nice for those who aren’t accustomed to 20°C weather in early February. However, since the track is located in an open field, constant wind gusts combined with below 5°C temps did make it a “cold” day by Floridian standards. Nonetheless, the sun did shine reminding everyone the beauty of outdoor racing. With nearly 190 entries on hand, the energy was soaring and the racing top notch.
