Kurzbuch TQs and wins at Swiss 1/8th IC track finale

The final round of the Swiss 1/8th IC track national championship was held in Sittersdorf recently. Newly-crowned national champion, Simon Kurzbuch (Shepherd) again laid down some exceptional runs to take the TQ after the qualifiers. In the main final the race for the win was on between Simon and Silvio Hächler (ARC) and the lead would change between these two with every pit stop until Silvio suffered an engine cut at the second stop for tyres and later on he also had a body tuck which made things even worse. Up front Simon would cross the finish line one lap in front of Silvio while Luca Martinelli (Xray) rounded out the top 3 podium result. Elsewhere in the B class there was again a Kurzbuch/Hächler fight going on with Simon’s father Christian and Silvio’s father Andreas being in the mix for the overall title in the slower B class. Ultimately and with a save and clean drive, Christian would secure the day’s win and with it the national title.

Sami Soukas takes Finnish Open E-Buggy Championship

The final round of the Finnish Open Electric Buggy Championship was held at the Lavanko Raceway. The event started on a moist track and it was Ari Koski who made the best out of the conditions with Sami Soukas coming in 2nd after the practice rounds. In time for the qualifiers the track had dried up but it was left pretty slippery. The finals then were a pretty tight affair between Joonas Hyvärinen, Aleksi Wilkman and Sami Suokas. After the triple mains Joonas took the win from Aleksi 2nd while Sami came in 3rd just one point behind the winner. Nevertheless the 3rd place was enough for Sami to take the overall championship just one point ahead of Ari Koski. Ilari Lamminsivu rounded out the overall top 3 result.
