The track was just five minutes away from the Vancouver International Airport making it very accessible out of town participants looking for fun, close and exciting racing. As pre-entries came in, the Summer Challenge was shaping up to be the largest outdoor on-road event in Canada of 2016, and those entries did not disappoint as RRR set a new high in 2016. A special element to this event is the amount of track time for all racers. Essex Winter Series 2016/17 – Announcement

Essex Winter Series 2016/17 – Announcement

The organisers of the Essex Winter Series have announced details of their 2016/17 championship. The series, now in its sixth year, is recognised as one of the most popular on-road championships not only in the UK, but across Europe too. Following a successful fifth season, the organisers have made a few tweaks and changes to the programme and rules. The series will continue to feature classes for Modified and Super Stock (13.5 Blinky/Zero Timing) Touring Cars. The first major change will see the series now utilising controlled tyres from Sweep Racing. The tyres will be specific to EWS, and feature the EWS logo on the wheel and they will be available very soon, in the UK via CML Distribution. The organisers will also be investing in new carpet, switching to the popular “ETS” style carpet and with it the track expands to a massive 24×34 metres, one of the largest carpet tracks in the world. The series will consist of five rounds again, and be concluded with the EWS International, previously known as the International Carpet Challenge, which will take place after the end of the regular championship. Entries for the series open on 1st September 2016, and the series is expected to fill up quickly. More details and all dates can be found on the series’ website here and also on Facebook here.

Martin Bayer successful at Czech Open Rd7

The seventh round of the Czech Open series was held on the technical Kolin track. Xray young guns Milan Mudra and Max Gotzl came in fourth and fifth.

Grainer & Toth win at Slovakian Nationals Rd4

Round four of the Slovakian 1/10th Electric Off-road National Championship was held at the XXXL-Bratislava Raceway in Bratislava. Like in the previous round the weather was very hot, making for dusty and slippery track conditions. In 2WD Lucas Grainer could take the TQ with Philipp Stocker and Thomas Rössler in tow. The very low-grip track conditions made things interesting in the finals but Lucas would excel and he took the win from Phillip and Thomas.

Patrick Hofer wins at Swiss Nitro Buggy Nats Rd6

Patrick Hofer wins at Swiss Nitro Buggy Nats Rd6

Round six of the Swiss Nitro Buggy Nationals was held in Courgenay over the weekend. Team Associated’s Patrick Hofer would take the TQ after the qualifiers but team mate Ronny Lüber secured himself the pole position for the A-main event after a very quick run in the semifinals. With an 8th place in his semi, after a longer-than-planned pitstop, Patrick grabbed a very lucky 10th place on the grid. At the start of the 45-minute main, Ronny soon got under pressure of a swift Jeremy Pittet (HB Racing). After the first rounds of pit stops Ronny was still in the lead, although hardly chased by Jeremy. Once the traffic and the bumpy track kicked on, both started to make mistakes and this promoted third placed Patrick Hofer into the lead that he would hold onto until the checkered flag. Behind him the race for the runner-up spot was on between Lüber and Pittet and it was simply decided by the amount of mistakes of both with Pittet ultimately holding the upper hand over Lüber. Elswhere in the Amateur class it was Daniel Föllmi to take the win from Sebastien Cuanoud in second and Stefan Wüthrich in third.

Norwegian Electric Off-road Nationals – Report

Norwegian Electric Off-road Nationals – Report

The Norwegian Electric Off-road Nationals, run in 2WD Modified and 4WD Modified Buggy classes, were held this part weekend at the Innherred RC Klubb in Levanger. The weather forecast wasn’t too promising but after some hard work of the club and some volunteers the clay track was ready for the weekend of racing. The weather limited practice before the event so at first it looked like the local drivers would be on top. Yokomo’s Daniel Kobbevik had a good start into the event as he showed a very fast pace from early on. Behind him, Roy Gemble also was very quick but electrics gizmos later on meant the BQ for the unlucky driver. The 2WD top 3 after the qualifiers would then read Daniel Kobbevik on the TQ from Eirik Andreassen (Yokomo) and Torbjorn Doler (Team Associated).
