Riccardo Berton takes EFRA 1/8 Buggy title

The 2019 EFRA 1/8th Nitro Buggy European Championship was held at the Ongaroring in Sacile, Italy this past week. The event was held in very mixed weather conditions, making things pretty challenging for Europe’s best drivers. Ultimately and at the end of five entertaining qualifying rounds it was Team Associated’s Davide Ongaro with the overall TQ on home soil from Kyosho’s Riccardo Berton on the 2 spot. SWorkz’s Elliott Boots came in 3rd, from 4th placed Mugen racer, Robert Batlle. 5th went to HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk, Alex Zanchettin (Tekno RC) came in 6th, Xray’s Marco Baruffolo would end the qualifiers in 7th and Renaud Savoya would round out the top 8 for TLR, with eight different manufacturers on the top spots.

Enzo Albertoni wins at Summer Off-road Invitational

The 1st annual Summer Off-road Invitational was held at the Xtreme Race Park track in Puerto Rico last weekend. Jay Drakeford would take the overall TQ in the Nitro Buggy class, however in the 45-minute A-main event it was 3rd place qualifier, Enzo Albertoni with the overall win some 3.1 seconds in front of Jay with whom he had some very entertaining battles throughout the main, unfortunately Jay suffered a blown tyre in the closing stages which hampered his buggy’s performance. Runner-up after the qualifiers, Jose Colon would round out the top 3 result some four laps down.

Graham Alsop TQs & wins Nitro Buggy Challenge

The JC Raceway Nitro Buggy Challenge and Nationals Warm-up was held at JC Raceway in Cleobury Mortimer, UK this past weekend. Veteran racer, HB Racing’s Graham Alsop took the overall TQ and also the win in the main final, leaving behind Team Associated’s Matt Lewis in 2nd and Xray’s Callum Niblett in 3rd.

Lewis Jones wins at SRS Rd4

The Herts Nitro Model Club in the UK played host to round 4 of the SRS last weekend. In Nitro Buggy it was Team Associated’s Lewis Jones with the overall TQ and win from SWorkz’s Kevin Brunsden on the runner-up spot. Agama’s Jon Hazlewood came in 3rd to round out the top 3 result.

Dario Balestri takes EFRA 1/8th IC Track title

The 2019 EFRA 1/8th IC Track European Championships were held in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin, France this past weekend. In the EC-A category it was Infinity’s Dario Balestri with the overall TQ, after winning two of the five qualifying rounds from Shepherd’s Simon Kurzbuch, who also scored to round TQ as Carmine Raiola (Infinity) came in 3rd, winning a single qualifier. The Super Pole race then went in Simon’s favour who took the win to start from 2nd into the 45-minute A-main encounter with Simon being able to build up pressure on his rival Dario right from the start. The lead changed several times and the fair duel between the permanent rivals lasted until the very last lap. After 45 minutes Dario won by just a few car lengths in front of Simon making this European Championship final one of the most exciting ones. In 3rd it was Infinity’s Jilles Groskamp with the final podium spot, coming from 10th on the grid.

Harder & Lamberts win at Danish Off-road Nationals Rd5

Round 5 of the Danish 1/8th Off-road Nationals was held in Bjæverskov last weekend. The sunny and hot summer weather made for some great racing and after Sunday’s 1/8th Nitro Buggy qualifying it was Pelle Culmsee with the overall TQ from Daniel Bubel in 2nd and Peter Harder on the 3 spot. The 45-minute A-main final then saw Xray’s Peter Harder coming out on top with a 12-seconds margin on Serpent’s Nikolai Lamberts who had the pace to match Peter but suffered a couple of mistakes and an additional stop for fuel. In 3rd it was Xray’s Daniel Bubel who would round out the podium.

Lars Stub-Holm wins at Swedish Nitro On-road Cup Rd3

Last weekend the third round of the Swedish Nitro On-road Cup was held at the technical Staffanstorp Raceway track. The race attracted drivers from Sweden, Denmark and Norway and in the 1/10th 200mm Nitro Touring class it was clear right from the start that it would be a close affair up front with five drivers being on the same pace. Ultimately it was Rasmus Nielsen who set the pace in qualifying by claiming the TQ with a rocket drive in the last round of the qualifying. Lars Stub-Holm lined up in 2nd after being outpaced by three seconds over the 4-minutes round and Georg Ellingsen had to settle for the 3rd spot only six tenths behind Lars.
