Xray sign Toni Santana

Xray have announced the signing of European GT8 champion, Toni Santana to their factory team. Toni is also a multi-times Spanish GT8 champ and he will be using Xray’s GTX8 platform at national and international events such as the Euros and Worlds. Toni says:

I am following the work of Xray for a long time and I have been always amazed by the professionalism and dedicated approach for the continuous development of the cars. I am very happy to be part of this great family, to be able to participate on the further development of the GT platform and I am really happy to be part of the team. I hope to return that trust with work and results and I will work very hard to showcase next year at the European and World Championship.

Adam & Ronda Drake win at Top Notch Tour Rd4

Revelation Raceway hosted round 4 of the Top Notch Tour this past weekend with the event attracting nearly 80 entries. In the Pro Buggy class Mugen’s Adam Drake set the pace in both rounds of qualifying and started first in the 30-minute final. Drake went on to win the 30-minute final followed by the HB Racing duo of Tyler Brown and Chad Grana.

FORCE Series Rd7 – Report

Round 7 of the FORCE Series was held at River Rat RC Raceway. In 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy Mitch Zeck was able to take TQ in round 1 and take a 3rd in Q2 which gave him the overall TQ. In the 35 minute A-main, Gene Hickerson took the early lead and started to check out. Zeck worked his way up from last to 3rd before having a receiver pack fail, causing a DNF. A great battle ensued between Hickerson, Jordan Singletary, and Julien Oliveras for the next 25 minutes. With five minutes to go, Hickerson got stuck on a pipe and flamed out, handing a 1-lap lead to Oliveras who went on to win. Hickerson rejoined in 4th but quickly worked his way back up to finish 2nd by just 0.07 seconds over Singletary in a very exciting photo finish.

José Areias successful at Portuguese Cup

The outdoor season ending Portuguese Cup was held at the Travessas track in S. João da Madeira located in the south of Porto. In the 1/8th Nitro On-road class it was José Areias with the win after some 45 minutes of intense racing. Vasco Sousa would follow on a hard-fought 2nd place while Joaquim Rego had to settle for 3rd overall.

Korean TLR Race Cup – Report

The 2017 Korea TLR Race Cup was held this past weekend at the Ipjang Circuit in Chenan, Korea with 120 drivers from all over the country. In the premier 1/8th Nitro Buggy class it was top Korean racer, Dani Choi with the win in front of Jeongu Lee and Jeon Hanyeong in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Baldo brothers join Kyosho Europe

Kyosho Europe have announced the signing of Bryan and Oscar Baldo to their team. After a season with TLR and Horizon Hobby the two Spanish frontrunners have decided to change gear again and to go for Kyosho as their new home.

Jason Woolridge wins at Battle Of The Sikest

The Battle of the Sikest was held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Texas recently. Jason Woolridge (Xray) would sweep the Open Nitro Buggy class by taking the TQ and win from Brian Rohde 2nd. Kyosgo driver Brian Beck rounded out the podium result in 3rd.

Paparegas takes 6th consecutive Greek IC Buggy title

The fourth and final round of Greek 1/8th Buggy Championship took place at the Renti track with drivers from all over Greece attending the event. Reigning champion, Tasos Paparegas (Xray) was in attendance to defend his title with a 4th place overall being enough for him to take another national title. Qualifying went well for him but at the start of the A-main he went into issues with slower drivers that send him dead last. However Tasos would start a comeback and ultimately he would end the race on the 3 spot which was enough for him to take his sixth consecutive title. Anapoliotakis (Tekno) would end the day on the highest step of the podium from Kyosho driver Papanikolaou in 2nd. Overall in the championship, Anapoliotakis took the runner-up spot from Papanikolaou 3rd.
