Elias & Winick take South American titles

The South American Championships for 1/8th scale and 1/10th 200mm took place over 4 days last week in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the 1/8th scale class the pole position went to Flavio Elias and on Sunday he converted that starting position into the title for Capricorn/Picco. Daniele Ielasi was present for support and it was actually the Italian who won the race but as he didn’t qualify for the title Elias was crowned the champion. Henrique Winick was second ahead of fellow Capricorn/Novarossi driver Natalio Maringolo in third place. In the 1/10th scale class the pole position went to Sebastián Recio but on Sunday the victory was to go to the Brazilian Capricorn/Novarossi driver Henrique Winick followed by another Capricorn/Novarossi driver Juan Pablo Golobic in second with Mugen/Novarossi driver Leandro Campos in third place.

Elliot Boots double at SRS Rd1

The 2012 SRS kicked off at HNMC with 116 drivers racing across 3 classes to establish who is the best in the South East. The club ran a full layout on this modular track which was well received by the drivers. The track was in great condition, the grip was medium, and the tracks new rostrum had been modified following driver feedback and was well received by all drivers. The big news this weekend was that Reece Sawyer had switched from AE to Kyosho and is now running as a privateer with his AKA tyre and Bullitt engine deal. Qualifying in nitro and electric buggy was dominated by Elliot boots, while truggy went to Callum Niblett. In the buggy finals it was a win in the gas class for Boots ahead of Karl Jackson in 2nd and Tommy Chung in 3rd, while in Electric it was again Boots from Nick Platt with Pete Palmer. The truggy win when to Callum Niblett ahead of Rob Gray 2nd and Nick Platt 3rd.

RC Show’12 – Announcement

CochesRC.com have announced the ‘RC Show’12’ an RC buggy event that will be held in Madrid (Spain) from the 1st to 3rd of June 2012. Drivers attending will be able to participate in a high level offroad competition, with international drivers, and also enjoy the rest of the activities and surprises, including a party. Entries are already open and space will be limited so if you are interested in attending sign up early. Some drivers already confirmed include Mike Truhe (USA-TLR), Yannick Aigoin (France-AE), Robert Batlle (Spain-Mugen), Miguel Matias (Portugal-TLR), Daniel Vega (Spain-Agama) and Alberto Garcia (Spain-Serpent). Nick Cattuna takes double at Cape Fear series Rd2

This past weekend was round 2 of the Cape Fear Championship Series at Cape Fear Raceway in Fuquay Varina NC. The Track was in prime condition and with the track taking a groove very early on Nick Cattuna went to Pro-Line’s Newest tire the Tazers which were up to the task of propelling him into a solid TQq in Pro Buggy and starting 2nd in E-buggy. Even after 25 minutes of hard racing in the Nitro A main final the tires continued to set the pace giving Nick Cattuna the win in Pro Nitro Buggy.  He then went on to back that up with a win in the E-buggy class with some Revolver 2.0 M4 compound tires.

Gergely Cseko wins Hunagrian Nats Rd2

The 2nd round of the Hungarian Offroad Championships took place in Apaj on the first weekend of May. Unfortunately the opening round had to be canceled due to heavy rain in April so finally the season could kick-off. The weather was nice finally and the organiser RCOR club put in a great effort to make it a good event. The track is a medium-high speed track with all different kind of jumps and corners. You need a very well balanced chassis setup especially going through the ruts in the fast banked sweeper after the straight.

Ralf Dennenmoser double at 2012 BaWü Cup

With a brilliant debut Ralf ‘Bombe’ Dennenmoser took part in the 2012 BaWü Cup in Nufringen, which saw 100 drivers in attendance. He claimed the victory in the 1/8 buggy class as well as in the 1/8 truggy class. ‘Bombe’ dominated both finals and took advantage of the low fuel consumption of the V.21B allowing him to pit at the 10 min mark. In the buggy class he won the final 4 laps in front of the rest of the field while he crossed the finishing with a two laps gap in the truggy class.

Lee Martin wins BRCA 1/8th EP buggy Rd1

Round 1 of the BRCA British Electric 1/8th buggy & Truggy series which runs alongside the nitro truggy series kicked off last weekend with this new format at the Herts track. 97 drivers made the trip and with bad weather all week it was not looking good but with a lot of hard work by the HNMC and Westmill farm the event was given the all clear. Mugen driver Lee Martin TQ’d the Electric buggy class, with Mark Robson TQ’ing electric truggy while TLR factory driver Darren Bloomfield took the top spot in the nitro Truggy class. In the finals it was Lee Martin that took the buggy win ahead of Bloomfield in 2nd and Simon Willets in 3rd while in EP truggy Mark Robson was victorious over Chris Hampson and Dale Knight. In the nitro truggy class Chris Doughty took the win for Durango ahead of Callum Niblet in 2nd and Michael Lewis in 3rd.

Elliot Boots double at Herts Summer series Rd3

With a lot of race meetings cancelled last Sunday due to bad weather there was a massive turn out for Rd3 of the HNMC Summer series on the bank holiday Monday event attracting 122 drivers. Again the weather would play a part with showers midday and clearing up later. Kyosho team driver Elliot Boots took TQ in the buggy class with Lee Martin and Darren Bloomfield close behind while in the truggy class Callum Niblett took TQ in the truggy running the new Team C truggy. In the buggy A final Elliot Boots took the win ahead of Darren Bloomfield with Tony Truman coming in 3rd. In the truggy final Elliot Boots also took the win ahead of top qualifier Niblett with Robert York in 3rd.
