Takahata sets CP3 pace at Homestead

Shoki Takahata has put his Mugen at the top of the time sheets in the 3rd round of controlled practice at the 1:10 200mm World Championships in Homestead, Florida.  The Japanese driver posted the 2nd fastest time of the day over 3-consecutive laps to top the round from fellow countryman Naoto Matsukura by 7/100th of a second.  Behind, Simon Kurzbuch made a big improvement to set the third quickest time ahead of Teemu Leino who also made a big step forward in terms of pace.  With his CP2 time still standing as the fastest of the day with one round of controlled practice remaining, Lamberto Collari would end the third round 17th fastest with a body change causing his Infinity to become unstable in the rear.  It would also be a difficult round for reigning World Champion Dominic Greiner who was only marginally quicker in P15.

Rain halts final practice at 1:10 World Championship

Rain halted the final round of practice at the 1:10 200mm World Championship in Florida. A heavy shower stopped proceedings at Homestead RC Raceway half way through what was to be the drivers fourth practice of the second official day of the event. Having also ran 4 rounds of practice yesterday, officially it is Mugen’s Robert Pietsch who has produced the fastest time of practice ahead of reigning World Champion Dominic Greiner and Jesse Davis.  With overnight rain washing away traction built up during the International Practice Days and yesterday’s first round of official practice, today’s times were slower. After respraying the track with sugar water this morning it was Greiner who was fastest in the first round from 200mm rookie Naoto Matsukura. The Japanese driver went to the top in the next round ahead of team-mate Tadahiko Sahashi while what was to become the last run of the day for the leading drivers produced an Infinity 1-2-3 led by Lamberto Collari from Matsukura and Sahashi with Greiner fourth.  For the day it was Matsukura’s FP6 time that was the fastest of the day registering a 53.890-seconds 3-consecutive lap time compared Pietsch’s 53.668 from the previous day’s rocket round FP4.

Ronnefalk & Canas successful at Buggyland 5.0

The Buggyland 5.0 race was held in Madrid, Spain over the weekend, attracting most of Europe’s front-running 1/8th off-road racers. In the Nitro Buggy class it was HB Racing’s David Ronnefalk with the overall TQ while the E-Buggy class was lead by Mugen’s Juan Carlos Canas. After the nitro semifinals it was Juan Carlos with the pole position for the 60-minute nitro buggy A-main and he would also lead for a good part of the race as he seemed able to counter any attacks of the hard charging David Ronnefalk. However Juan Carlos suffered a flameout and bad luck in the later stages of the main, meaning David was able to bring home the win a lap in front of Kyosho’s Elliott Boots while SWorkz’s Martin Wollanka took the final podium spot. Ricardo Berton and Joao Figueredo came in 4th and 5th and in front of Jörn Neumann and Juan Carlos Canas, who had to settle for 7th, some three laps short of the winner.
