Coelho tops practice in Xiamen

On the completion of free practice at the 2WD World Championships in Xiamen it is Bruno Coelho who appears to have the early advantage, the Xray driver heading a European trio at the top of the time sheets. Having set the fastest 3-consecutive laps in the second of the four practice rounds, the reigning 4WD Champion showed his pace was genuine when he topped the final practice with an identical time with a 1:15.929 compared to his FP2 time of 1:15.911. Having not really featured in early practice, sitting P17 after two runs, Schumacher’s Michal Orlowski would go fastest in FP3 with his 1:16.002 time leaving him second fastest overall. Also finding a big improvement in FP3 was David Ronnefalk with his time good enough for 3rd overall, the HB Racing driver the only one to match Coelho with a 24-second lap of the challenging track. The fastest driver counting his time from the final practice, Kyosho’s Kohta Akimoto would end P4 with Ryan Mayfield the best of the offroad power house that is North America in 5th followed by Ty Tessmann.

Coelho leads the way China in early 2WD practice

With the first two rounds of free practice complete at the 2WD Offroad World Championships in China complete it is Bruno Coelho who leads the way. The Xray driver set the fastest 3-consecutive laps on his second run to top the times by a massive 2.5-seconds from Naoto Matsukura after posting a fastest lap of 24.788. With things much more closely bunched from P2 to P6, the five drivers separated by 3/10ths of second it was Jared Tebo, the last 2WD World Champion on dirt who completed the Top 3 ahead of Ty Tessmann, Joern Neumann and Dakotah Phend. With 4WD Champion Coelho fastest in contrast reigning 2WD Champion Spencer Rivkin, who celebrates his 19th birthday today in Xiamen, found himself 13th fastest.

Yannic Prümper returns to Yokomo factory team

Yokomo have announced the return of Germany’s Yannic Prümper to their factory team. Yannic grew up using Yokomo cars and buggies and he now comes back to the iconic Japanese manufacturer following a stint with other brands. Prümper will use the BD8-2018, YZ-2 and YZ-4SF platforms in his upcoming campaign that will see attendances at events such as the ETS, EOS and major races in Europe. Yannic says:

I would like to thank Team Yokomo for giving again the opportunity to use their excellent products. It feels good to be back in that Team where my RC carrier started and I grow up. I‘ll do my best in the future to deliver the best results!

2017 Charity Race – Announcement

The annual Charity Race will be held on the weekend of the 3rd of December at the RC Landia indoor track in Scandiano, Italy. The 2017 edition will see the running of Touring Modified, Touring Stock, Formula and 1/12th Pan Car classes and beside the fastest Italian electric on-road racers, European Pro drivers such as Marc Rheinard, Alexander Hagberg, Ronald Völker, Viktor Wilck, Max Mächler and Francesco Martini made their entry. Like the years before, Team La Gang will hold a charity lottery for the good cause. Kerler & Greiner win at German Indoor Masters

The German Indoor Masters was held last weekend as part of an annual toy fair and the event saw over 50 entries for 1/8th Nitro On-road and over 30 sign-ins for 1/10th 200mm Nitro. Taking place in Friedrichshafen near the Lake Constance the race attracted drivers from Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In the 1/8th class it was Toni Gruber with the TQ but in the 30-minutes A-main it was Tobias Kerler with the win from B. Gramlich and A. Baier. In the 200mm class Dominic Greiner dominated the event as he took the TQ on Saturday and the race win on Sunday from Diekmann and Gruber in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Riccardo Berton wins at World Indoor Buggy Cup

mopoKyosho’s Riccardo Berton would snatch the TQ in the Nitro Buggy class and he also came out fastest in the 45-minute A-main despite a mishap in the closing stages, that allowed TLR’s Renaud Savoya to catch up. Ultimately Riccardo would bring home the win from Renaud on the runner-up spot and 3rd placed Alex Zanchettin (Tekno). UK’s Elliott Boots (Kyosho) and fellow countryman, Darren Bloomfield (Agama) would lead the best of the rest in 4th and 5th respectively.

Zachary Rogers named new Kyosho US team manager

Kyosho America have appointed Zachary Rogers as their new US team manager following the departure of Joe Pillars. Zack brings with him a wealth of experience and Kyosho America is looking forward to working with him. In a statement on social media Kyosho America states:

Zachary “Zack” Rogers, an accomplished Southern California racer and avid RC enthusiast for more than a decade (six of those years running Kyosho cars) is joining Kyosho America as its new US Team Manager. Zack has been a driver during six years of Joe Pillar’s tenure, plus he brings a great deal of his own personal experience and enthusiasm to the position. Zack will focus on higher quality communication with the drivers at the local and regional levels, and he will also be serving a number of roles on the Team Kyosho International. The Kyosho staff would like to welcome Zack to the Kyosho family and racing team.

ETS Austria in numbers

Having risen to become one of the toughest, most competitive & prestigious championship’s in the World over the last decade, the Yokomo Euro Touring Series entered into its 11th season last weekend in Austria. A brand new destination on the ETS calendar, Round 1 would take place in Messe Wien located in the historic Prater district of Vienna right next to the oldest amusement park in the world. Invited to be part of Austria’s biggest modelling show by the organisers of Modellbau Messe, the racing would prove a huge hit with the record 63,000 showgoers with the track surrounded by large crowds throughout the 3 days of competition. A great showcase for the sport, the season opener attracted just shy of 250 race entries from 27 nations and collecting data from each of the drivers at technical inspection here is a breakdown of driver’s preferences in chassis manufacturers.
