Kutvonen top seed at ETS Italy

Viljami Kutvonen is the top seed for qualifying at Round 4 of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series in Italy.  The first asphalt race of the season, the Awesomatix driver set the fastest 3-consecutive laps around Road Race Riccione RC Circuit Marco Simoncelli from Marc Rheinard by a considerable 4/10ths of a second.  Initially credited with the fastest time but having his best lap disallowed for a track cut, championship leader Bruno Coelho would complete the Top 3 followed by Kyle Branson and reigning champion Ronald Volker.

Italy marks ETS switch to asphalt

Following one of it’s most competitive season openings, the first three rounds all producing different winners, the Yokomo Euro Touring Series switches to asphalt this weekend May 13-15) with a trip to Italy. With the country’s long awaited return to the ETS calendar finally made a reality last year, once again it is the beautiful Road Race Riccione RC Circuit Marco Simoncelli track that will host the close on 290 entries that make up the fourth round of the championship. While last year’s race would result in the end of a 15-race, 3-year run of podium finishes for reigning champion Ronald Volker, the Yokomo driver rates the track as one of the best in the world. Having finally registered his first win of Season #9 at Round 3 in Austria, last year’s Italian encounter would see the German finish only fourth despite being Top Qualifier as himself and Bruno Coelho had the first of a number of clashes that created tension between the rival factory drivers. With relations since improved, the tension now between Coelho and Marc Rheinard after an exchange of words in Austria last month, Volker will be looking to carry the momentum of his first ETS win in 5-races and make amends for his 2015 result by kicking off outdoor proceedings with a victory.

Ryan Cavalieri takes E-Buggy win at Worlds Warm-up

The 2016 Worlds Warm-Up Race was held this past weekend at RC Tracks of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The schedule saw open practice on Wednesday, controlled and seeding practice on Thursday, four rounds of qualifying on Friday and the final qualifier and the A-main events on Saturday. In the supporting 1/8th E-Buggy class Ty Tessmann would dominate qualifying to take the overall TQ honors while Jorn Neumann would qualify 2nd, and Ryan Cavalieri 3rd. The single 10-minute A-main event was ran early Saturday afternoon. At the start of the race, a small mistake by Tessmann would allow Neumann by for the lead with Cavalieri moving to 2nd. The very next corner Cavalieri would make the pass on Neumann for the lead and Tessmann would go from 3rd to 2nd. Tessmann and Neumann would have a great battle for most of the race in 2nd and 3rd. As the A-Main came to an end, Tessmann was charging hard to catch Cavalieri who was out front by a comfortable margin. Cavalieri would go onto cross the finish line first to take the win. Tessmann would put in a great drive to finish only 2 seconds back from Cavalieri for 2nd. Neumann would complete the podium by finishing 3rd.

X-Race Grand Final report

X-Race Grand Final report

The Xray X-Race Grand Final was held last weekend at the company’s on site facility, the Hudy Arena and Alexander Hagberg gave this report. ‘Great weather, and a great atmosphere as always, gave the racers that came to Trencin this past weekend a really enjoyable experience. Drivers were able to compete in 6 different categories, at the beautiful Hudy Arena outdoor circuit! Practice ran all Friday, with qualifiers on Saturday, and finals on Sunday as always.

Robert Pietsch wins Hot Race Nitro Cup

The Hot Race Nitro Cup took place last weekend in Gubbio, Italy, the host of this summer’s 200mm World Championships. Using the same handout Hot Race tires as those to be used at the Worlds a lot of drivers used the event to gain knowledge on the track and tires.Qualifying would see former 1/8th World Champion Robert Pietsch take the top spot in qualifying with his Picco powered Mugen, ahead of the Tesla powered Capricorn of Dario Balestri, with super fast French race Leo Arnold with his Orion powered Xray in 3rd. Unfortunately the rain arrived before the finals could be won and so the even was called on the qualifying results. In the two support classes it was Roberto De Cesare that won the 1/8th class, which was run in the wet, while in the 1/10th National class the win went to TQ man Federico Iezzi.

Dragon Stone Asian Buggy Champs – Announcement

Scotty Ernst Productions have announced the Dragon Stone Asian Buggy Championship from September 1st to 4th 2016 in Liaoyang, China. The Asian Buggy Championship is an international 1/8th Buggy event that will be held at the Dragon Stone RC Facility that includes both 1/8th offroad and onroad tracks as well as all the amenities a racer would want. Some of the World’s top drivers have already confirmed their attendance like Ryan Maifield and Reno Savoya, with more to follow. Industry manufacturers will also be attending this event such as JConcept’s Jason and Allison Ruona and Jerome Treignier from RC Concepts among others. The Championship is open to all drivers from around the World regardless of ability. International racers attending the event will be treated to a very VIP experience such as a shuttle service to and from the track as well as an airport shuttle. Classes run include 1/8th Nitro Buggy, 1/8th Electric Buggy and 1/8th Nitro Truggy. Detailed information of the event can be found on the event website as well as on the Dragon Stone Facebook page. 1/8th Buggy Euros Warm-up Race – Announcement

The warm-up for the 2016 1/8th Nitro EFRA Off-road European Championships will be held from the 13th to 15th of May at the RC Redovan track in Alicante in the south-east of Spain. Registration for the event is open until the 9th of May and it can be found here together with additional information about the race that is open for all drivers with respective national licences.
