Patrick Hofer successful in Bütschwil

The International Bütschwil GP was recently held in Switzerland with over 100 drivers from Austria, Germany, Italy, UK and Swiss in attendance. Team Associated driver and multi-time Swiss national champion, Patrick Hofer would dominate the event right from the start of the practice sessions on. Patrick would grab the pole position for the main final after the semis and he also brought home the win to round out a perfect weekend. Behind him, fellow Team Associated driver Ronny Lüber would grab the runner-up spot from Micha Widmeier (SOAR) in third place.

Rivkin, Phend & Cavalieri win at 2016 Cactus Classic

The 30th Annual Cactus Classic race was held this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona and it saw a nice mixture of drivers battling it out for the top spots in the Modified classes. 2WD Modified Buggy had TQ Spencer Rivkin (Team Associated) taking the winning honours, coming from the TQ spot, from TLR’s Dakotah Phend and Team Associated’s Ryan Cavalieri. Runner-up after the qualifiers, Jared Tebo, had to settle for fourth.

Wesley van Helmond wins MIO Cup 2WD title

Wesley van Helmond wins MIO Cup 2WD title

The MIO International Indoor Off-road Cup recently concluded with the fifth and final round of the championship. TLR’s Wesley van Helmond would grab the overall title in the highly competitive 2WD Buggy class, that attracted nearly 100 drivers over the season, with three wins and a second pace from Schumacher driver Oliver Speith who scored two wins and two runner-up spots. The third place was gabbed by Dutch 1/8th buggy star Bart Mullink (Schumacher). In the 4WD Buggy class the overall title went to Yokomo driver David Pauwels in front of the Xray duo of Arie Vos and Jack Box. In the Youth category the winning honours went to Senne Pauwels (Yokomo), son of 4WD winner David, from Max Ceelen (TLR) and Jayden Vos (Xray).

Creation Model sign Jilles Groskamp

Creation Model have announced the signing of former IFMAR Electric Touring Car World Champion, Jilles Groskamp to the Infinity team. Jilles was chosen for his incredible driving skills, passion and dedication to the hobby. With his experience and professional attitude he will be an important part of the team while helping to improve current and develope future projects. The former HB/HPI driver had the following to say about the deal:

I’m very happy to announce my career move to Creation Model. This new company has a great passion for R/C and I will be joining a great group of people. First I will be running the Infinity 1/8 at most big races but in the meantime we will also be working hard on future projects. I’m more then excited to start this new venture and I would like to thank Kenji Taira and all his staff for this great opportunity. See you at the track!

JJ Wang O.S. powered through to 2018

O.S. Engines have announced the signing of up and coming American-Chinese racer JJ Wang to their factory team. The 18-year old Mugen racer and 2014 IFMAR World Championship finalist has signed a 2-year deal that will see him use the Japanese power plant throughout his national and international 1/8th and 1/10th nitro campaign including this year’s 200mm World Championships in Italy. JJ had this to say about his new deal:

First of all, I would like to sincerely thank Novarossi for all the support they have given to me for so many years.  In deciding how to improve my overall race package for the future, I am very excited and honored to join Team OS Speed for the next two years; Special thanks to Mr. Arata and Mr. Shimazaki for their support and having the confidence in me.

2016 IRCC Airport Race – Announcement

2016 IRCC Airport Race – Announcement

The annual IRCC Airport Race will take place from the 10th to 12th of June at the Chubu International Airport in Japan. As usual a purpose-build track will be laid out in an event hall near the arrivals section. With the airport having a hotel and restaurants, you won’t need to do much travelling and can in fact access the track by foot. The race will see the running of several on-road classes including Stock TC, FWD, Modified and Stock 1/12th scale, Formula, World GT and more with racers from the USA, Korea, Macao and other countries being awaited. EOS Season finale moved to Germany

EOS Season finale moved to Germany

The Euro Offroad Series is set to finish where it started with the organisers forced to find a replacement venue for the fourth & final round in Austria after issues arose regarding the preparations of the temporary Mattsee venue. Having opened Season #5 with a very popular first visit to the famous Nurburgring racing circuit last September, the EOS will now return to the German venue where the 4WD Buggy Champion will be crowned. Able to retain the original April 29 – May 1 date, the season finale perfectly coincides with Round 2 of the the full size VLN Endurance Championship which will host a 4-hour race on the legendary 20.8km Nordschleife circuit.

Alex Hagberg sweeps Hot Race Winter Shootout

Alexander Hagberg has ended the Hot Race Winter Shootout, held this past weekend at the RCLania facilities in Scandiano, Italy, on the highest step of both the Touring Modified and 1/12th scale podium. Team mate Marco Kaufmann would sideline Alexander on the Touring Modified podium as he had to settle for second despite putting much pressure on the Swede in the finals. The third and final podium spot went to Patrick Folman.
