Championship leader Balestri sets early Fiorano pace

Euro Nitro Series championship leader Dario Balestri set the pace in free practice at the season finale in Fiorano, Italy. The Capricorn driver set the pace ahead of Shepherd’s Francesco Tironi with title rival Robert Pietsch making a promising start to proceedings on the debut of Mugen’s new MRX-6 with the third fastest time. Defending champion Simon Kurzbuch, who sits just 2-points off Balestri, would post the 4th fastest 3-consecutive laps with his Shepherd. Behind Kurzbuch, the fourth title contender, albeit with a very slim chance, WRC’s Andrea Pirani would set the 5th fastest time.

Greiner sets pace as title rivals struggle

Contenders

Dominic Greiner has ended free practice at the season finale of the Euro Nitro Series at the top of the time sheets while is rivals were less confident about their early form in Italy.  With four drivers coming into the fourth round of the ENS in contention for the title, it is fourth placed Greiner who set the pace from Round 3 winner Dirk Wischnewski.  Of the other title protagonists Bruno Coelho was the closest to Greiner ending the 8 rounds of free practice 5th fastest, 7/10ths off.  Current standings leader Jilles Groskamp finds himself a second of the pace in 12th fastest while HB team-mate Teemu Leino, second in the standings, faired only marginally better ending up 8th as drivers now move into two rounds of timed practice that will determine the heat seeding for qualifying.

ENS Season finale to decide 2015 Champions

Both of this year’s Euro Nitro Series Champions will be decided this weekend (23-25 October) at the world famous Minicar Fiorano circuit in Italy with four drivers in contention for each of the titles.  The fourth & final round of the high profile nitro onroad championship, the conclusion to Season #2 has attracted a record entry of 170 drivers but the focus is on who will lay claim to the prestigious titles come Sunday evening. A season that has seen three different winners from the opening three rounds it is very much all to play for among the title protagonists.

Nicholas Lee & Daryl Thong win at PRCA finals

The final race of the 2015 PRCA series was held at the RCMC outdoor asphalt track in Singapore with drivers from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden in attendance. Considered the second largest race in the country after the AOC, the event attracted international racers such as Xray’s Alexander Hagberg and Serpent’s Viktor Wilck while star announcer Scotty Ernst flew in to make for some more international flair. With the big names attending, the Modified class attracted the most drivers, making for a lot of on-track action. The Modified class qualifiers then saw a close battle between top Singapore driver Nicholas Lee (Tamiya), Alexander Hagberg (Xray) and Viktor Wilck (Serpent) with Nicholas nailing it on the TQ position with one qualifying round to spare while Alexander and Viktor lined up in second and third respectively.

Alpe Adria Masters 2015 – Report

The Alpe Adria Masters 2015 recently concluded with the third and final round held at the LAMAC track in Austria. The very technical but smooth track layout attracted some 60 drivers despite a less-than-pleasant weather forecast for Saturday. In the 1/8th Nitro On-road class local driver Herfried Pucher (ARC/Picco) took the win from Nejc Mihelic (ARC/Picco) and Jernej Vuga Stendler (Xray/Reds Racing). As for the overall result, the third place at the final round of the three race series handed Jernej the win from Nejc on the runner-up spot. Roland Riegler (Capricorn/Picco) would round out the top 3 result.

Leo Arnold teams up with Xray

Xray have announced the signing of French National Champion Leo Arnold to their on-road team. Leo will be racing at national and international 1/8th and 1/10th scale events using Xray’s RX8, NT1 and T4 cars. Leo’s campaign will include attendances at the ENS, ETS and European Championships and 3-times French Cup winner and multiple ENS and ETS finalist has the following to day about the deal:

Offroad rookie Coelho is 4WD World Champion

Bruno Coelho is the new 1:10 4WD Offroad World Champion, the Xray driver securing the sport’s top prize in Japan with a convincing victory in the second A-Main of the Yatabe Arena hosted event.  Coming into his first electric offroad Worlds as a relative unknown in the class, the Portuguese Touring Car star would become the second Rookie to triumph at the first Worlds to be run on astro turf, Spencer Rivkin winning the 2WD title at 16th running of the bi-annual IFMAR event earlier in the week.  A driver who burst onto the international scene when one year ago to the week he finished runner-up at the Touring Car Worlds in the USA, today’s result was made even sweeter by the fact that he would beat his onroad rival & reigning Touring Car champion Naoto Matsukura to the title.  With Coelho forced to sit out A3, Matsukura would take the win ahead of David Ronnefalk to finish 2nd overall with Ronnefalk completing the podium.
