FEMCA got in touch with us to let everyone know of the Warmup race that is taking place for the IFMAR 1/8th scale gas on road World Championships in Japan. The event will be held from the 20th to the 26th of May at the Kei Tune Racing Speedway in Tuchiu Ichihara Chiba, host of the main event in October. For foreign entrants, the deadline for entry is the 30th of April and you can find more information here.
Hobby Expo 2013 and MicroRC.ru have announced the second running of their large international indoor off-road event, the Russian Gran-Prix 2013. The event will be held in Moscow from the 19th to the 21st of April and the carpet covered track is 30X18 meters. Specially designed for this event, which has so far attracted 170 entries, there are still places available so if you are interested you can enter. The race will feature top racers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Finland to battle it out in 9 electric classes covering OffRoad 1:18, OffRoad 1:10, OffRoad 1:8. The organisers of the Euro Touring Series, the world famous championship for electric touring cars, are pleased to announce, following ongoing requests from a number of leading, onroad nitro manufacturers and drivers the establishment of a two round Euro Nitro Series Pilot Series for 2013 as preparations for a full five round championship in 2014. Catering for both 1:10 & 1:8 Onroad, the first of the 3-day events in the ENS Pilot Series will take place at Hockenhiem in Germany from May 31-June 2 with race two to be held in Austria at Stöhr-Ring on the weekend of June 28-30.

Last weekend saw the opening round of the new International GP series take place in Fiorano. The race was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday but due to the bad weather forecast all the action was moved to Saturday only. Unfortunately some of the finals, including the GP1 (1/8th expert) had to be cancelled due to the rain. The organizers based the results on the qualifying times and so Alberto Picco took the win, as one of the few to run 5 minutes without a stop. Dario Balestri took 2nd and Capricorn team mate and 9-time World Champion Lamberto Collari was 3rd.

The world renowned Scotty Ernst is heading East for his latest venture, the newly announced Asian Onroad Championship. The AOC will be a group of standalone events that travel around Asia. On Road racing is extremely strong in this part of the World and the roots of many of the companies that design and manufacture cars and parts are located within Asia making this the perfect place to make an exciting Championship. In this the opening year they will begin with 4 events, starting in China then on to Australia, Thailand and ending in Japan. The races are open to Super Stock (13.5 Boosted), Stock (17.5 Non Boost), FWD (17.5 Non Boosted) and F1 (21.5 Non Boosted) plus each event may have other additional classes depending on local interest. The Ospy team Association have announced the Novarossi off road trophy, to be held on June 28-30, 2013 at The King Road track in Gussago, Italy. The event will see World famous Champions, National record holders and World Champions participating along with tricks, night jump and other activities. The race will be open to 1/8th buggy & truggy and to keep you entertained their will be a DJ set and cocktails. Entry is open now you can find more details here.
It has been over twenty years since the premier event for 1/8 IC track last visited the UK. On 22nd to 27th July 2013 you are invited to be part of this spectacular event to take place in the north of England at the Halifax track. The fast flowing circuit successfully hosted the 1/10 IC 200mm European championships in 2006 and has since been improved further to host this event for 1/8 drivers. The warm up event takes place 1st and 2nd June. Nearby airports include Leeds Bradford and Manchester providing a link to those travelling from central Europe. For the first time in a number of years the blue ribbon buggy titles at the Proline Cactus Classic have gone to two different drivers with defending champion Ryan Maifield successfully retaining his 4WD title while Jared Tebo took the 2WD win, a crown he last held in 2008. In the truck classes, 4WD Short Course was also decided with Dakotah Phend wrapping up the title in the second leg of finals.
