Elias & Winick take South American titles

The South American Championships for 1/8th scale and 1/10th 200mm took place over 4 days last week in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the 1/8th scale class the pole position went to Flavio Elias and on Sunday he converted that starting position into the title for Capricorn/Picco. Daniele Ielasi was present for support and it was actually the Italian who won the race but as he didn’t qualify for the title Elias was crowned the champion. Henrique Winick was second ahead of fellow Capricorn/Novarossi driver Natalio Maringolo in third place. In the 1/10th scale class the pole position went to Sebastián Recio but on Sunday the victory was to go to the Brazilian Capricorn/Novarossi driver Henrique Winick followed by another Capricorn/Novarossi driver Juan Pablo Golobic in second with Mugen/Novarossi driver Leandro Campos in third place.

Meen Vejrak signs to Team Dualsky

Team Dualsky have signed the 2012 TITC Champion Meen Vejrak to their team. Meen will attend many international events around the world this year using the Dualsky Track&Field power system. As well as obtaining results he will use his many years of racing experience to help Dualsky test all of their new products and push the development of Dualsky products forward. Meen had this to say:

After I have tested with Dualsky recently, I was very impressed with the efficiency of Track&Field ESC, batteries and Z5 Motor. I am really glad and thankful to join the Dualsky team. And especially thanks to Mr.Orville, Mr.Lee and Mr.Chong who give me this chance. I hope we can achieve the goals together.

RC Show’12 – Announcement

CochesRC.com have announced the ‘RC Show’12’ an RC buggy event that will be held in Madrid (Spain) from the 1st to 3rd of June 2012. Drivers attending will be able to participate in a high level offroad competition, with international drivers, and also enjoy the rest of the activities and surprises, including a party. Entries are already open and space will be limited so if you are interested in attending sign up early. Some drivers already confirmed include Mike Truhe (USA-TLR), Yannick Aigoin (France-AE), Robert Batlle (Spain-Mugen), Miguel Matias (Portugal-TLR), Daniel Vega (Spain-Agama) and Alberto Garcia (Spain-Serpent). ISTC Worlds Warm-Up – Announcement

The Model Auto Club Heemstede, organizer of the 2012 IFMAR Worlds, will organize the official Worlds Warm-Up for 1:10 ISTC at the MACH track in the weekend of June 9-10. All the big aces are expected to show up, confirmed already are Dutch ace Jilles Groskamp, Andy Moore from the UK, Atsushi Hara from Japan. Many more international racers are expected to sign up as the official Warm-up is the week following the Apeldoorn leg of the 2012 Euro Touring Series which is about 1 hour drive away from Heemstede.

European Nitro Challenge – Announcement

Shepherd have announced the 2nd annual European Nitro Challenge for nitro on-road cars. The race will be held from the 7th to 10th of June at the Hockenheim Formula 1 circuit’s RC race track and is open to 1/10 and 1/8 scale nitro on-road cars in Open and HobbyCup classes with the latter need to run Novarossi N12T1 or Sonic .12 ProStock engines and Novarossi N21-5T or Sonic .21 ProStock engines respectively. The race which is organised by Shepherd with cooperation partners Serpent, Mugen, Picco, Sonic and LRP will not allow for tyre additives and already received entries from pilots like Robert Pietsch, Michael Salven, Dirk Wischnewski, Simon Kurbuch, Daniele Ielasi and more. RCI hosts successful Horizon Hobby China Cup

On May 1st, a public holiday in China, RCI hosted the first ever Horizon Hobby Cup with the offroad event attracting an encouraging 55 entries to the impressive indoor facility situated in the Shanghai suburbs. Also housing an asphalt track which is set to host a round of the upcoming Asian Touring Series, the venue was the perfect stage for Horizon Hobby China to interact with racers in a sport that is still very much in the early stages of development in this potentially huge market.

Lemieux to contest ETS Apeldoorn

Xray have confirmed that American Touring Car ace Paul Lemieux will contest the penultimate round of the Yokomo Euro Touring Series over the weekend of June 1-3 at Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. Having made annual appearances in three of the four previous seasons of the world famous electric touring car series, this will be the US National Champion’s fourth time to race in the ETS but will be the Wisconsin driver’s first experience of the Apeldoorn venue which is rated by many top drivers as one of Europe’s greatest race tracks. The RC America/Thunder Power backed driver will join factory Xray drivers Alexander Hagberg and Martin Hudy at the fifth round as the Slovakian manufacturer looks to build on their maiden victory in the Ride Modified class at Round 4 in Poland that has moved Hagberg into contention for the overall 2011/12 ETS Championship title.

Neumann wins Rhein-Main-Circuit warm-up

Team Durango factory driver Jörn Neumann has won the 1/8th brushless class held at the 7th annual international warm-up race at the Rhein-Main-Cicruit. The DEX408 driver started from third place and easily won leg 1 and 2 leaving fellow Team Durango driver Hupo Hönigl and Thomas Mayr (S-Workz) behind. Fourth place went to Rene Kargl (S-Workz) with Tim Bremicker (Kyosho) in fifth place.
