Having crowned the 2010/11 champions just weeks ago, the organisers of the Euro Touring Series have announced the schedule for season number 5. Coming off the back of a very successful fourth series, that saw over 630 drivers register points, the ETS will once again be run over six rounds and visit six different countries, two of which are new to the championship.

The 2012 Reedy International offroad Race of Champions will once again be held at West Coast R/C Raceway in La Mirada, California on January 26th – 29th. Entries open September 1st at Noon PST on www.RCSignup.com and with 200 spots for the open classes and 30 Invitational drivers, spaces are limited. The event continues its traditional 2wd Open and 4wd Open class along with the Invitational 2wd/4wd format. To allow everyone an opportunity to be a part of this historic event, a lottery drawing will be conducted on October 21st with the first 200 open class entries selected securing a place in the event. Entry fees are due for the selected entries and Invitational drivers by November 20th.

Sweep Racing have announce that double Euro Touring Series Champion Jilles Groskamp has joined their team. The Tamiya TRF and Team Orion factory driver had this to say about the deal:
After some tests with the Sweep tyres I’m very excited to join the Sweep racing team. As a professional driver I spend many days testing new parts on the car and new electronics and good tyres are needed for this. Jörn Neumann put in a great performance at this week’s electric off road European Championships in Pau France. Qualifying 2nd overall behind 2wd Champion Lee Martin in the shortened schedule, after heavy rain washed out the previous day, Jörn lead the Team Durango charge, with team mates Hupo Hönigl qualifying right behind in 3rd. The field was strong, with two former/current World Champions and 6 former/current European Champions in the A-main. Jörn took the opening two legs of the A-Final to take the overall win in a close fought battle with Lee Martin and Neil Cragg and become the 2011 4WD European Champion. Having already won the title, Jörn sat out the third leg of the A and Hupo took up the fight, taking second which he held to the line for 4th overall. Lee Martin took 2nd overall with Neil Cragg in 3rd.

The hosts of the 2012 IFMAR 1/10th 200mm World Championships at RC Addict in Bangkok, Thailand were in touch to tell us about the Thailand Invitational race that they are running from the 7th to the 13th of November this year. Taking place in the same conditions as the Worlds which will also be held in November, the year after, if you are competing at this event you really need to be at this race. Having organised 3 World championships in the past you can be assured it will be a great race. The organisers of the DHI Cup, who announced that last January was their last event, were in touch to tell us that they are back and will run both onroad and offroad together in the Stadium Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark on the 6th to 8th of January. The international race scene has changes a lot since the first DHI-CUP back in 2001, so now they think it is also time to do something different. For the first time a big international indoor race will do both offroad and onroad on 2 different tracks, that will be 32 x 22 meters. So you will be able to compete in both classes or all classes if you like and have enough cars. They hope to have drawings of the Stadium Arena and the tracks in a couple of weeks.

Robert Pietsch has given Mugen’s new MTX-5 the dream debut by convincingly winning the 200mm European Championships in Ettlingen Germany. The race was only ever between Pietsch and Dirk Wischnewski but a flame out during the former Champion’s tyre stop in the middle of the race effectively put the Xray driver a lap down on his fellow countryman. After a long battle with Biagio Spataro, who retired after fuel got into his electrics, Finland’s Teemu Leino completed the podium.

Mugen’s Robert Pietsch will start on pole position for this evening’s 200m European Championship final in Ettlingen, Germany after he dominated his Semi Final in which he lapped the entire field. The winner of the other Semi Final Dirk Wischnewski will line up second followed by Eric Dankel and 5 more Xrays in a grid that sees a total of 8 of the Slovakian cars represented along with just one car each from Mugen and KM Racing.
